Broadcast and multicast (BM) systems have not been reliable in the wireless local area networks. Higher bandwidth and more reliable BM transmissions are necessitated by video and audio applications in disaster recovery areas for different purposes either by military, govt. , social or political matters there are so many technologies RND going on but which is best or which bunch can be implement for better use?
I believe that time and again HAM radios have proved to be the cornerstones in disseminating disaster related information. Most of the telecom technologies rely on some sort of ground based infrastructure... which obviously gets affected in the event of a disaster. Ham radios have proved to be indespensible tools when it comes to disasters. There are sufficient number of stories to prove the point - including the recent Tsunami disaster.
