A lot has to do with the companies that you target and what they think Product Manager is. Despite what some professional groups would tell you, different industries have different views of Product Management.
I would say four things
1. Target smaller technology companies, especially IT related ones. They will appreciate your background and the legitimacy it brings with customers and internal development resources
2. Look at your resumes. Does it emphasizer the marketing work you've done or does it read like an engineering resume
3. Go to your network. People who know your work can help you the most. They will not have the bias that someone looking at a piece of paper will have.
4. Look inside the company you work for. Unfortunately, you work for a bank. They are unlikely to want to make you a product or brand manager since you are not a finacial person. Product Managers are very much tied to their industries since it requires tremendous domain knowledge.
Well I believe that it all depends upon the overall experience and knack of the professional. But in India the organizations look for fancy degrees before accepting you as a product manager. Also the person should know basic rules of marketing and should be thorough with the product portfolio he is supposed to manage.
