Nano !0 to the power -9
Though the answer "Nano 10 to the power -9" is quite decent in itself but not complete. Actually Nanotechnology is technology in whch we play with matter, molecules, or even atom at the level of 1 to 100nm (nano meter).
This is applied to all fields, chemistry, physics, bioogy, biotechnology .....anything.
The most important and basic thing in nanotechnology is "when we decrease the particle size of any material its total surface area get increased and thereby a change in physico-chemical, biological activity which open up the doors of new opprtunities to be worked out." e.g. Durathon is the plastic of biological origin that has got nanocrystal dispersed throughout due to which tensile strength and melting point has been increased.
Nano technology has got its application ion various better say in all fields e.g. drug delivery, food packaging, textiles etc. etc.
Suppose we divide 1 single unit by 1000000000 units , and hence develop materials and devices possesing atleast one dimension within that size , is what we call nano- technology.
Its the next level of technology which involves atoms and molecules. It is the tiniest technology ever....
