Well, I really have no comments on this coz I havent gone for facebook a/c yet, but having had an Orkut a/c, my feedback is 5 on a 1 - 10 rating scale...It takes years to see your pics being uploaded and the interface seem to be lil' dull and gloomy...am not sure what strategy facebook has adopted but in every popular website you get a direct link to facebook or an option to import friends directly from your facebook a/c...it applies the same with mobile applications too - Nokia C3 have an interface to directly log into facebook and twitter...Where is Orkut here??Nowhere...it needs to pull up its socks before things get worse for them...
its our perception that its good in-comparison to Orkut. both are same we are adopting Facebook only due to popularity in western countries.
I think the major problem with Orkut is that it crashes more frequently than Facebook.We can upload pictures and videos much faster on Facebook as compared to Orkut.As far as security is concerned again Facebook outplays Orkut.In last two years Facebook became the most popular social networking in India surpassing Orkut. With the addition of "new orkut", Orkut is trying to beat Facebook by providing faster pages.But again they have nothing new all these things we already have on Facebook.
Facebook has more friends than Orkut in india. Its user friendly , we can upload pic, videos easily.Users are able to meet new groups and are able to interact with their likes and dislikes. Facebook is a great tool to use to keep up to date on news, current events, and interesting happenings in the world.
Its a very easy and friendly system. Provides you many way to be in touch with the people you know and to know the people you don't know.Orkut is no where in front of the face book.
Major factor besides orkut downfall are:
1. the heavy web design, which often gets hanged
2. low availability in mobile devices
3. lack of interactive application
4. advertisement
yah... the interface... its more user friendly when compared with orkut.. not only that ..the way how they start it ,, and where they started it .. they targeted college graduates.. high school graduates in and around harvard ..and then it gradually spreading towards the world reaching million users perday ...but still its blocked in several countries... and facebook is entirely dependent upon.. banners and ads.. so obviously the have to make the site more user friendly .. and bcoz of the visitors facebook employees or geared up to create new applications ... but still .. facebook suffers some disadvantages .like banner clicks. ad clicks.. etch :P .. lets c how long it survives...
