one server but it performs only one function at one time.
But in 2003 still distinguishes between application and
administrative services but installation and management are
now consolidated.

but in 2003 we can apply nearly 720 so Win2003 server is
more secure than win 2000 server.
3) In 2000 we cannot rename domain whereas in 2003 we
can rename Domain.

4) In 2000 it supports of 8 processors and 64 GB RAM
(In 2000 Advance Server) whereas in 2003 supports up to 64

client version is not available

2003AD:-
1.2 Million object can be created .
2. It is a new feature available in 2003.
3.Between  parent and child, there is  built in trust .It
is called as transitive trust.
4. Same partitions are there in 2003, but one additional
partition called Application directory partition is present.

more secure than win 2000 server.
6. Automated System Recovery(ASR) is there

-2000AD:--
1.Only one million object can be created.
2.Universal group membership is not present.
3. Between parent and child, there is no built in trust .It
is called as non-transitive trust.
4. There is only three AD partition, Domain partition,
configuration partition, schema partition.
5. In Win 2000 server we can apply 620 group policies .

In windows 2003 server, AD partion is 5 where as in 2k that

In 2k the Domain operation Roles and only two mode of
operation and in Win2k3 there are 4 modes of Domain
operation [Native mode, Mixed mode , Itrative mode and
windows 2003 mode .

"Windows 2000" is also called as "Win2k" . It is an
interruptible, business oriented and graphical operating
system which was just designed to work along with
the "uniprocessor" or "symmetric multi processor 32 bit
Intel x86 computers". It is a part of the "Microsoft
Windows NT" series of operating systems. It was succeeded
by "windows XP" in "windows server 2003". The "Windows 2000
Server" has extra and additional functionality which
includes the ability to provide the "Active Directory
services". Active directory services is a hierarchical
framework of resources. Windows 2000 server also proved
Distributed File System (it is a file system which supports
file sharing) and storage volumes for fault
redundancy. "Windows Server 2000" supports upto four
processors, up to four GB of RAM. "Windows 2000 server" is
designed to use for web applications, file servers, print
servers etc.
Windows 2003 server is a "server operating system". It is
created by Microsoft. It is also called as successor
of "Windows 2003 server". It's performance is much better
than the "Win2k". it can be used as "centralized management
tool" for the printers and files. It gives "enhanced quota
management". "Windows 2003 server" also
includes "compatibility modes" to allow the older
applications to run and execute with larger stability.
You can have a look at

However,in order to optimize its function, I think you
should partition your disks
sometimes.http://www.softpedia.com/reviews/windows/EASEUS-
Partition-Manager-Server--Review-92249.shtml

SIR HAS UNLEASHED THE STUFF IN AN EXCELLENT WAY, ONE SHOULD FOLLOW THE ABOVE STUFF.

BUT I WOULD LIKE ADD A FEW POINTS.

(1) TO RENAME A DOMAIN YOU HAVE TO USE RENDOM.EXE (RENAME DOMAIN) ITS A TEDIOUS TASK WHICH SUPPORTS WINDOWS SERVER 2003.

(2) WE HAVE 2 KINDS OF ZONES IN DNS SERVER, PRIMARY ZONE AND SECONDARY ZONE, BUT THE LATEST ONE IS STUB ZONE. IT IS BETTER FOR AN ADMINISTRATOR TO CHOOSE STUB ZONE IP ADDRESS AS CLIENT'S PRIMARY DNS SERVER, THE OUTPUT IS SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT WHEN COMPARED TO OLD METHOD, WHERE WE USED TO ASSIGN PRIMARY ZONE DNS IP ADDRESS, WHAT I MEAN TO SAY IS, DOMAIN CONTROLLER'S IP ADDRESS SHOULD BE OMITTED WHERE DNS BINDS ITSELF WITH ACTIVE DIRECTORY, OF COURSE SOME ADMINISTRATORS INSTALL DNS OUTSIDE ACTIVE DIRECTORY, BUT IF ANYBODY COMES ACROSS SUCH A SITUATION THEN BETTER CHOOSE STUB, RATHER THAN PRIMARY ONE.

(3) IN TERMS OF HARDWARE THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 2, IT DEPENDS ON PROCESSOR ARCHITECHTURE (32BIT AND 64BIT).

(4) TRUST RELATIONSHIP IN MULTIPLE FOREST IS POSSIBLE, HERE WE NEED ROUTING CONCEPTS, EITHER STATIC OR DYNAMIC.

(5) FIREWALL WITH TCP/IP.

(6) SHADOW COPIES.

(7) YES, IPV6 (128 BIT ADDRESS) CAN BE INSTALLED IN WINDOWS SERVER 2003.

I HAVE JUST SCRATCHED THE SURFACE, THERE A LOT OF THINGS TO KNOW....

THANKS FOR SHARING.......
