1. Remove all illegal connections, tappings.

2. Ration power supply to industries. All industries have back up generators, let them generate their own power for part of their peak requirements.

3. Similarly, run Agricultural pumps of diesel generators.

4. Subsidise purchase of energy efficient lamps (CFLs) for low & medium income groups and ensure all incandescent lamps are replaced with CFLs.

5. Replace energy guzzling mercury / Sodium vapour street lamps with LED lamps. Compel all advertising hoarding illumination to be through LED lamps only. BAN use of neon signs till the energy crisis is over.

Dikshit Ji, the question was for IMMEDIATE solution, not long term solution. So, the answer was for practical short term solution. Cheers!

There are many alternate sources of powers available today like Solar power, Wind power, Water power, Nuclear power power etc. Government should promote these power sources as much as it can. Also, it should prevent electricity theft so that public can get uniform amount of electricity supply....

Immediate solution is go for solar energy and make use of other non-conventional sources of energy.

Govt should provide nuclear reactors for power generation, which is not dependent on water.

Educating the public for energy savings.

To stop power theft by industries since they consume lot of power.

In addition to private providers, people should use solar powered equipments, devices, etc. Stop wasting electricity. Make a conscious effort to save electricity as it will be quite sometime before the electricity is provided by the private providers. We all can certainly do our bits and add to the prosperity!!

Need to have private providers who will issue smart cards for electricity!! Not only will the household learn to limit the ysage but will also know the importance of using it!! I believe this kind of distribution is already existent in most parts of the west and some parts of the east.. why not us?? You refill the usage with cash and get to use the units od electricity till the money doesnt get utilised!! Maybe my suggestion is foolish but I think that is the immediate way to go according to me!!

Also, in most major metros there is a continuous NEED for electricity for development in various sectors; Construction & Building, Commercial premises, Residential complexes you name it.... The smart card would be a great tool to limit the usage and use the necessary only!!

Immediate solution is difficult because its in the hands of nature this time........ Atleast hopefully the govt. and people will wake up now and think about importance of solar energy & GREEN BUILDING concepts.
