A network is basically all of the components (hardware and software) involved in connecting computers across small and large distances. Networks are used to provide easy access to information, thus increasing productivity for users

As far as computer technology is concerned concerned, networking is interconnection of devices with one another to exchange the data and to work interactively etc,there is technology and hardware required for this and its called the Networking ,well one man connecting to another through ideas,talks etc can also be called networking (Social Networking).yeh there are many fields the term networking can appear.
Its a really good question i think we might continue this debate longer to understand other forms too.

the working in a net is called networking such as group of professional here able to communicate each other is networking. but i think there is dirty networking also. such as a group of dirty politicians...

Networking is a vast term. In simple terms, I can say it is the process of linking. In case of computers, Networking has two meanings.One is internet where you get connected to the vast cyber world. The second is Social networking where you get connected to many people online.

Networking have got many types like Social Networking, Educational Networking, Professional Networking & IT Networking etc. All the types of networking has got equal weightage but among all Most important types are Professional Networking and Social Networking. So, Kinkdly give equal importance to both of them.
