What is "Process Intelligence" ? Can we say "Process Intelligence = Process Mgmt + Business Intelligence"
Process Intelligence (PI) is a code-name for a range of technologies which unlock knowledge that is hidden in process data and tell us how to use it more effectively. The overall objectives of PI are to improve productivity, product and service quality, and business profitability by making information and data more comprehensible and using process knowledge more effectively. Process Intelligence helps us to use process data for competitive advantage.
Process Intelligence is a "bridge" between the machines’ management and the business management.
In my opinion PI basically is nothing just to put a kind of technique or intelligence in the existing process which lead improved productivity and efiiciency, that we can relate with business profit, although when used PI with business this become BPI, which include continuous data mining to overcome the bottleneck in decision making.
I believe that process intelligence is the "+" that you have put between process management and business intelligence. It is a bridge between the process management and business intelligence.
In earlier days, there were many other parameters that were involved - like the configuration and calibration of huge machines, the people who used it and even the emotional and psychological data that can be used to determine how wars are won.
In today's context, the intent of process intelligence is to provide the needed data via various means from the running of any process so that informed business decisions can be made.
Google it and I am sure you would find many more interesting perspectives of this.
Dear Shaleen,
Definitely we can consider "Process Intelligence" as an combination of this two.....
And it should also incorporate performance management, compliance management, and risk management. Process Intelligence should be designed to take BI a few steps farther by reading process logs directly, adding robust timing calculations, understanding process steps (preferably directly from BPMN/BPEL) and using an object model that is based in distributions of event/values instead of discrete instance values. I always felt Process Intelligence has far-reaching impact which guarantees synergy benefits, regardless of other outcomes from its use......
