I agree with you Sheetal, to put things in perspective, Its the "Emotional Quotient" and in some cases the "Logic Quotient" which makes an ad a success..You have to strike a note with the target segment and you get only a few chances to do that..Look at all the great ads, and analyse, its only and mostly either of the two.Address their emotional need and you are a success, and in my opinion a contributor to Brand equity

According to me it is the emotional part that attracts the masses. Once you identify their needs and make the right advertisement you are the king. Today many companies are trying to find it, but only few are successful. 

So the secret mantra for a product success is ads..............
