GREEN FUEL........

According to me, Green fuel is that fuel which provides energy without having any significant effect on life forms and environment of the earth. Considering the whole fuel cycle starting from collection of raw material, processing it to required quality, using it as fuel, till it gets mixed in air or on land.

For eg. Biomass based fuel can be said as green fuels. They have certain impacts but not to the level at what the present fossil fuels or other conventional energy sources are creating. But nuclear energy as it seems cleaner and greener as it doesnt releases GHGs but we should also have detailed view on other Secondary sides....As it is carcinogenic in nature, its half life is too high which is just leading to problems of how to get rid of such wastes... there are many other points but cant write in detail....

So, please add ur opinion so that more n more people gets clear of these basic things.

Thank you.

Biofuel or green fuel is defined as solid, liquid or gaseous fuel obtained from relatively recently lifeless or living biological material and is different from fossil fuels, which are derived from long dead biological material. Also, various plants and plant-derived materials are used for biofuel manufacturing.

Globally, biofuels are most commonly used to power vehicles, heat homes, and for cooking. Biofuel industries are expanding in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Recent technology developed at Los Alamos National Lab even allows for the conversion of pollution into renewable bio fuel.[1] Agrofuels are biofuels which are produced from specific crops, rather than from waste processes such as landfill off-gassing or recycled vegetable oil.[2]

There are two common strategies of producing liquid and gaseous agrofuels. One is to grow crops high in sugar (sugar cane, sugar beet, and sweet sorghum[3]) or starch (corn/maize), and then use yeast fermentation to produce ethyl alcohol (ethanol). The second is to grow plants that contain high amounts of vegetable oil, such as oil palm, soybean, algae, jatropha, or pongamia pinnata. When these oils are heated, their viscosity is reduced, and they can be burned directly in a diesel engine, or they can be chemically processed to produce fuels such as biodiesel. Wood and its byproducts can also be converted into biofuels such as woodgas, methanol or ethanol fuel[4]. It is also possible to make cellulosic ethanol from non-edible plant parts, but this can be difficult to accomplish economically.[5].

Solid biomass is also used. Many materials such as wood and grasses can be dried and pelletised and burnt; and this can be used for power production. Although this produces some clinker the processing uses less energy and this can give higher overall efficiency.[citation needed]

In rural India, Wastages for biomass like - coconut shells and leaves, dried cowdung, dried up tree trunks and branches etc are used as fuels which give carbon dioxide and ash. There are rural boilers (low cost) in which they stack up these things at night and burn them with controlled dampers (with no flames) and the next morning hottest of hot water will be available for your disposal.

There are what are known as biogas furnaces in semi-urban India, where raw cowdung and excreta are used to generate gas which is a good substitute for fuel like LPG - which work far-far cheaper and efficient than LPG.

Hope this is what Binduji and Ankit are trying to explain. In fact both are cheapest sources of energy and green.

Dear Ankit Gandhi and Bindu Narayan....u r telling that greenfuels are generated from fossil sources...!!! then please explain me by giving example to ur justification because as much i know fuels from fossil resources are termed as Fossil fuels which is petrol, diesel, refined kerosene, etc. and these are non renewable energy sources and create lots of pollution as we all know....then how come they be GREEN FUELS...According to my understanding Green fuels dont have or have very negligible level of impact on environment. So, please explain what you think in little bit detail as its not conveying the right thing...thank you...

Green Fuel means the fuel whih is made by fossiles and wastages of the material required for the process that is recycled and uses as fuel in other sense we can say that the fuel which is made by non-renewable resources.

Green fuel are fuel made up of fossils or biological wastes. It can be completely combustible  while in other cases, carbon monoxide is formed due to incomplete combustion.

Thanks for posting.

More carbon dioxide is favourable to Greenery (due to photosynthesis) but not carbon monoxide which is dangerous to ozone layer also. The fuel which can be completely combustible is green fuel (Carbon monoxide is formed due to incomplete combustion).
