i wanted to know which type of foundation is advisable in sea sand soil?
Raft foundation is good enough for sea sand soil but it has to be sure that no construction joints are present.
The raft and pile foundation are the most used for sea shore,but well foundation is also a good one but it is always ignored because of lack of knowledge about it.However the choice can be made on knowing abt the size and type of building.

The optionof the foundation for structures on the seashore depends upon the type of thestructure opted there.We have gone for pile foundation end bearing type augmented by RCC diapragm wall fore the container berth constructedf at Visakhapatnam port.Diapragm wall was anchored by racker piles.
For the framed and multistoried residential buildings upto three stories RCC footings with duly connected by plinth beam is ideal.Above four stories raft foundation can be opted.
Raft faoundation for durability and further protected with box type waterproofing to avoid corrosion.
In sea sand soil the most suitable foundation is pile foundation but in some cases based on the soil chacterstics we can go for raft foundation which is very costly beacuse for this protcction willbe done by providing sheet piles for reach the founding level.
