For instance, some of the business development tactics include conducting seminars, participating in exhibitions, telemarketing, direct mailers, bulk SMS or E-mail campaigns, qualified leads, advertisement on media (Print media or Internet Web or Television, Hoardings etc), participating in User groups, Social media, CRM, referrals, conducting surveys etc.
Which is the most effective business development strategy for a startup or developing business enterprise? What mix of business tactics or approaches could work in what stages and in what proportion?
The most important thing is to have a network and start interacting continually to get the business in order to happen. This no one, will teach you we have to create it.
The days are gone where you have to have Quality, Delivery and cost. Now a days these are the default things that have to happen to have a business in place. Apart from therse there are implied needs of the customers in place which is hidden, one has to understand the nunaces of it to capture the orders.
Once you got the first order and made it successfully don't assume it will happen again to you automaticaly, you have a keep a watch on the business growing at customers end thro network and try to understand the forthcoming business requirements and try to capture the new order again. this cycle continues to stay in busness.
A business development program/approach involves the following:
1] Who are the customers and segment
2] Meeting the customers at regular intervals and having interaction.
3] one of the most effective method of advertising is the use of brochures. This miniature corporate profile is an excellent way to convey a good deal of information to bring in sales.
4] Planning sales strategies based on the strength and weakness of the competitors.
5] Press releases can be a good tool for business promotions.
6] Managing the business developments by creating pipelines for the opportunities and use it to manage the growth of business.
7] determining whether to create a new program or form an alliance with the existing one.
8] To understand the market trend in the target segment and devising the plan.
9] Building trust with the customers and dealers to accelerate the sales growth.
10] Establishing a system in place to resolve the customers/dealers complaints in a rapid way.

A product quality, working can be easily beaten/copied by some competitiors , only thing which nobody can copy is ur company/ur people's attitude.
To sustain in the market you cann't leave your customer by giving them the service for which you are charging for or can say which is just expected. You need to move in providing them from expected to supreme kind of service. Give them what they have not expected.
Trained your manpower,ur way of delivering in a way that they the cusotmer always feel delightful. GIve your cusotmer the best you have and the best will come back to you.
Bonuses, special packages, customer feedback, always be committed to ur words, proactively helpful to them are some key points for taking your service to excellence.
An investment in giving superior services is always sure to pay you back.
Business Development means creating a Client base exapnding that base and making them come back for more. Small and Medium businesses may not have large promotional budget, so they usually go with their expertise of a single person whom the customer believes in. Then it is word to mouth. The single person will have to assure quality, durability and functionality of his product or service. Once this is in place the business gets developed and one can execute his long term plans into medium scale and large scale.
In India Kirloskar engines is an example of this. Hewlett and Packard is an American counterpart. They all started up in a garage and expanded to big Corporate level missions.
in any business what is the foremost thing is transperencecy. building a close relationship with the customer is very important. Before entering the market a study as a buyer will fetch all vital informations such as THE SHARE , THE PRICE , THE PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES,THE SELLER ATTITUDE, THE SUPPLY AND THE DEMAND FACTOR, THE EQUILIBERIUM LEVEL AND ABOVE ALL THE COMMITMENT
Assuming the business case has been worked out, business plan has been developed, business opportunities have been identified, business processes are in place, product development and service implementation infrastructure is in place, then what next and how? Just ponder upon what mix of marketing strategies would be the most effective and why? What are the stages in which these tactics should be applied?

Starting a new business is far more than simply hanging a sign out and waiting for customers to pour through the door and I'm sure anyone willing to invest in a new venture is well aware of this fact. What you may not be aware of is the intricacies of what is needed to complete the process.
Most entrepreneurs who are planning a new venture first look to the business plan as the initial step. While the business plan is critical for the success of the new venture, it is not the first step in the process. We must first look at the business development process itself.
The process is not static. What I mean by that is it is not something you do up front and then you're done. It is an ongoing process that will take on many forms in the life of your business. In a new business development it is a visionary process, in which a direction for the venture can be identified and a systematic and orderly processes can be established as part of the overall business plan.
The process should be thorough but not overly-complicated. An effective business development approach is to encompass several major steps in the evaluating process including: your identification of the opportunity; what are your committed resources; the actual development of your business proposal; market evaluation; competition; and your time restraints. A successful business development process is being able to get a clear and concise evaluation of the inherent strengths and weaknesses, goals and issues that face the development of your new venture.
