for petrol engines it is MPFI and for diesel it is CRDI and electronic ignition eliminating carburretor and conventional delco system. chip controlled fuel injection and ignition timing system is the best for optimum performance as far as the fuel economy and power. Only thing is compared to conventional system this is bit costly but never mind it performs well.
Now we should look beyond having engine for propulsion. Till date when we think of vehilces we think of it having one engine. Why not it have many alternatives for propulsion with reduces the running cost. Why not have propulsion systems in the wheels itself propelled by battery which assists the engine. It actually reduces the total cost of propulsion. Battery propulsion has very high acceleration. Why not it take the place of 1st gear. It can even eleminate the starter motor in the vehicle.
You start on 1st gear, then u put 2nd, the engine starts and take over.
Vehicle decelerates to 1st gear, its switches off and saves energy.
The idea is crude and prima face looking ugly and impractical.
Groom the idea and it may turn revolutionary.
