What is your favorite IT hardware and why?

Dear Ted, Mobile Mesh will be one of the key tools that will have the potential to bring several advantages to wireless communications. The future is the integration of all mobile and wireless nodes (e.g. cellular, WLAN, PAN etc) with an IP core. One potential application of mesh technology would be to provide another route, alongside WLAN and 3G etc, into such a core network........

Since I am very old school, mine would be the invention of the TCPIP (protocol) and Computers. With a small or large unit , you can do anything from video to voice to even plot the stars, or drive a spaceship ( your on your own) to the moon. Even your 2009 car all have computers and have had them for quite a while. I have computers that are: Routers, Wireless Gateways, Firewalls, Analyst , Groupware, VMware, Unix hosting, web hosting, email hosting, .net development, remote access development and more. I took them a bit further and pushed mobile mesh onto them, using out of date machines (300mhz+with 128 mb ram) into a wireless mesh node and access point. Naver have used one for a boat anchor, but have also recyled 10,000 pounds of even older technology in USA this year. Computers are here to stay !

There are many good hardware to choose from but I like Routers the most because it is responsible for connection of logical subnets, which do not necessarily map one-to-one to the physical interfaces of the router.

There are so many technologies here to choose but coz m into networking and gadget geek i luv to have a pda all the time with loads of software like nessus wirecracker etc..
