What's your view about judicial reforms and judicial accountability?  Judicial reforms are due to be placed before the parliament. Issues like disclosure of personal assets by judges, impeachment issues, PF scams, political and outside influences in appointment of judges, etc. are the burning issues.  I've read somewhere that "tharasu" - balance - is given to two professions, i.e. one for judiciary and the other for grocers.  They are supposed to be just and without prejudices.  Now a days, grocers started using electronic balances, so the customers need not worry about the weights and measures, but only weary about the adulteration.  "Nyaya Devata" remains as the conventional symbol, therefore, your fraternity should, whether they like or not, exercise balanced approach in every judgement.  Exposure through sting operations by Media does not go in good taste.  Please take these issues up in active forum, as I see , youngsters and budding future judges like you can only bring back peoples' faith in the judiciary.

Sir, I thank you for posting this question. Unfortunately, most of my collegues are even scared to talk about this. When the system is not correct, it is the responsibility of citizens and enlightened citizens to correct it. But, in India, we don't do it and we refer the problem so frequently. We need completely indepedent, transparant and quality judiciary. We need to bring many reforms in our judiciary. I don't know as why our judiciary is not accepting to disclose the assets of judges. I don't know as to why the judges are protected from public criticism. We have seen excellant judges like Justice Krishnayyar etc. Earlier, our judges have excercised their power as if it is their reponsibility towards this society. What I feel is that the standards are being degraded, established principles of justice and the settled practice is getting disturbed, there is political influence in the functioning of judiciary. We need to address so many issues and I don't think that reforming our judiciary is something simple now in India and we need a leader like Barrack Obama to take this responsibility. Its a very deeper issue and it will definitely take so much time to correct our judiciary. We need to take many initiatives from law colleges, the law associations, the syllabus issues, the practical coaching to advocates, the appointment of judges, the usage of information technology, the research in law, funding issues and especially the issue of appointment of judges of constitutional courts and the transparency and indepdence. I don't think that it is a simple issue to dealwith. A person with deep understanding of all the connected issues can only undertake the task of reforming this judiciary. I thank you for posing this question and answer sir. Thank you so much.

In my openion there has to be judicial reforms required in our judicial system which shall give speedy and quick disposal of cases in the court of law. Specially civil cases in the courts has to be disposed off quickly. Judiciary is a independent machinery unlike legislature and executive has no accountability towards any authority.
