Distro, Inc., is a distribution service that stocks and distributes specific products to, and organizes combined purchases for, companies within the Winholesale organization, a national alliance of more than 400 wholesale distributors of plumbing supplies, industrial equipment, heating and cooling materials, electrical equipment, waterworks supplies,pumps, fasteners and electronics. Distro assists both the Winholesale company and the manufacturer in achieving their goals of market penetration, lower transaction costs, and increased profitability.
Distro needed to make better use of its more than 235,000 square feet of warehouse space, improve the accuracy of its highly complex shipping procedures, and improve the productivity of its warehouse. The company also desired to increase customer satisfaction.
It is a case study. I posted this,because In this platform lot of experince people are giving their views. So I thought, it is the better place to discuss about Case studies also. Beacuse No case study have a right or wrong answer. By discussion we chose the best option. SO I Started this case study discussion.
As a advisor what will be your Suggestions??

Yes Ajit you are right having a big space for warehousing would surely be easier to replenish the stock timely
when you talking about the supply chain there is 2 major things 1 is the time management and the other is space utilization, as having a big space for warehousing it would be easier to replanish the stock timely , customer satisfation is the just the stock availibility on time.
hope it will help in some way of case study, i think this is the wonderful oppurtunity for any organisation to implement LEAN process and also helps to reduce inventory/WIP.there can be multiple usage of space available for eg.FG godown, Vendor Managed logistics,customer goods etc.
