I think it is not killed but to me It seems that there is a major push going on right now to develop electric cars. Manufacturers want to come with a solid concept so that it will be easy to market Certainly every major car manufacturer already has, or is developing a gas-electric hybrid. Car manufacturers are sometimes slow to react to the market, but I'm sure they all know that the future will require electric cars.
