I have done my garduation in Electronics...Unexpectedly due to cirscumstances...i had to join call center industry...and now i am totally into BPO managemt. I seriously wanted to shift my platform to S/w. Can any one suggest me which way do i need to go in my career. already I have travelled 8 years of my career into managemnt. SO, i am like i cant take a proper decision now. Totally confusing....
Please read this article which I hope will help you sure on making your firm decision
http://toostep.com/insight/career---not-just-the-job
No one except you is the right one to suggest you any career, career is what you are within..
According to my knowledge, at that time BPO became your interest so thaty why you moved your 8 years and now you are in management side, its a good approach due to your interest, so interest takes you to the top and now you want to move in S/W side so again it take 8 years to place you in the same position in S/W field.
So my concern is "interest" which will take you to the top, just simply you have to select the field in which you want to be the top, nor parents not frnds can make this decession except you coz its your interest....isnt it srilatha ??

Since you have got good experience, I will suggest you to take up an MBA Program with top university..Proabaly Executive MBA (EMBA)Program.
If you could invest money and time for 2 year MBA program, take CAT/ISB and join quality programs/ Else you can do distance executive EMBA programs thru IIM, XLRI also..Companies do provide education loans for higher education.
Finally you can go as a Program Manager with good deal. Make a road map how do u want to see yourself in 5 years down the lane and plan accordingly..Doing MBA after gaining some experience will bring lot of scope for your career.
Since you have good experience and expertise in Management, definitely, you can see the brighter side..All the Best..

I could not agree more with Sharat & Sourave above.
Changing you career after 8 years of experience in BPO is going to be very painful. Its like you are saying that you wanna throw everything you have achieved in last 8 years down the drain.
I recommend that you should look at further opportunities to enhance your skills in the BPO industry. And if you have not been able to secure a management position yet, then look and doing some management courses (distance learning) or leadership courses to make yourself more employable in the management cadre.
This will help you in making your BPO career more rewarding and enriching.
Just my two cents....
Hi sreelaitha,
When u have rich experience in BPO again y do u want change u r path....
insted of that u try to learn man mangement skills and leadership qualities where u can grow in u r same industry
this industry is doing fantastic performance
dont try to test u r intrest in S/W side.... its a some what foolishness
hope u will think on this............
it may sound very stupid, but i think BPO industry has come a long way from past, and presently u shd hv nothing to regrat.
insted i belive it wd b very okward if u start afresh in anything new in terms of learning afresh.
"Skills" as i understand very little, comes froms experience and nothing less than experience , which u have and please love to b proud of ...
please dont confuse ,
Cheers!!
