Its very typical question because as you think deeply the storage of coal, gas will exist for few years as per the studies of scientiest. The problem we are facing is that what should we do? we must have some  alternative otherwise all our structure we have develop will collaps. At this time all the things are depend on energy it may be fuel, electricty. The solar energy source will last more from gas, oil, nuclear etc. We can develop the hybrid gensets is that on biodeasel as the solar energy is there we can grow the trees, plants and get the source of enengy from the use of it.Another is the enerty from the west meterials means using the thermal power station on the use of secondary materisl like buggess etc. Another is the wind energy, solar enerty(sun rays to electricity by using photovoltic cell).

Also there is another solution which is not included in your option is Hydrogen, Fusion process. If we got able in the technology of fusion of hydrogen which create helium i think so during this process large amount of energy released which can be used the process of reaserch in progress. Another solution is if we are able to use Hydrogen as fuel in vehicals and in boilor which is used to generate steam, not only the problem of polution but the electricity problem also solved as it will produced electricity in the cheap rate, handle the polution problem also.

Looking at the present scenario, oil, natural gas, coal and nuclear power are at the sharp end of the energy department and the OPEC is the leading exporter of power to the world. But that is going to end some day as the world is growing too fast and the resources are diminishing too fast. So I would put my vote on Solar and Geo-Thermal Energy to be with us in the future.

Nuclear is ok by me - and rarely gets the good rap as a renewable energy - it's actually one of the most renewable as it's just a 'reactionary' process.
