Just before the last lap of general elections, when most Indian voters have spoken their views through that small EVM (Electronic Voting Machine), we are waiting for the May 16 to see whether the massive voting exercise is of any use or we are going to face another election in a few months due to a fractured verdict.

Every party, every group is in negotiations, and everybody is in everybody’s touch.  Both the NDA and UPA have begun hectic lobbying much before the election results begin coming as it’s becoming more apparent that none of the coalitions is in a position to form government at the Centre.

The most important battle for the top political space in India is going to be fought after results are announced. Of course, this is a sad fact of democracy, but this is why Indian politics is what it is, fun: raw, pragmatic and ever evolving.

Let us consider what scenarios might emerge after the final phase of 2009 parliamentary elections.

Here are some facts about the polls to be held across seven states and two Union territories on May 13.

In the elections to 86 Lok Sabha seats, about 10.78 crore voters would be eligible to exercise their franchise in over 1.21 lakh polling stations.

Polling will be held in Tamil Nadu (39 seats), Uttar Pradesh (14), West Bengal (11), Punjab (nine), Uttarakhand (five), Himachal Pradesh (four) and Jammu and Kashmir (two). Balloting will take place for one seat each in the Union territories of Chandigarh and Pondicherry.

According to a demographic study of the biggest political battle field, Uttar Pradesh, at least 10 of the 14 constituencies have a relatively high percentage of Muslim voters, known for turning out to vote in huge numbers, a factor likely to determine the fate of the 203 candidates in the fray.

With barely four days left for judgment day, both the BJP and the Congress on Tuesday stepped up their hunt for post-poll allies to shore up the numbers in what is widely expected to be a hung parliament.

The Communists, who are pushing for a non-Congress, non-BJP Third Front government, kept alive the suspense about which way they will go.

This hunt opens several possibilities which we will dwell on after the last lap of polling.

The best dream I have is a coalition BJP and Congress. Since it will not happen unless the leadership of both parties are changing hands to youngsters with more pragmatic out look keeping country's future as the prime objective.

Since it cannot happen that fast, the other best outcome of this election according to me, should be a Congress+ Communist + NCP+ DMK and  other secular parties and like minded Independents.

1. Congress: Should quickly restore democratic way of functioning within the party, if necessary by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi stepping down handing over the bastion to some one more senior person say Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, keeping Mr. Rahul under her wings giving him time to get experience and grow in stature. He can try his hand to develop the youth congress and bring democratic function in the party. For health reasons Mr. Manmohan Singh's service shall be spared. Look for a person may be Mr. Chithambaram to become P.M.

2. Communists: Congress party did not ditch them. The real reason for them to hurriedly breaking away was that they knew that in going to electorate as part of UPA they had no tool to fight thier principal opponents in Bengal and Kerala,  they are sure to loose heavily in their seat count from both Bengal and Kerala. Mr. Karat was searching for some reason and Nuclear deal became a handy scapegoat for this. Mr. Karat was afraid of missing the last chance if delayed and hence acted the way he did. Though he did it under pressure from co-communists, it can be attributed as his personal failure, and he need to quit  owning the responsibility replacing with Mr. Sirataram Yetchuri. Similarly Mr. Bhardhan and Mr. Raja are also need to be replaced by more pragmatic persons.

3. NCP: Mr. Chauhan is fit to be PM but considering his age he may be given Dy. PM post sharing power with with PM.

4. RJD, RLD & SP will not have enough bargaining strength, and need to be considered to take them only if it is utmost necessary.

One thing the Regional parties need to understand the fundamental rule of a coalition going to election is that in the Lok Sabha election, major percentage of the seats should be given to the National party say in the proportion of  75% : 25% and vice versa in the Assembly election and mutually supporting the candidates. Any one with minimum common sense can easily understand this.

This is my dream of a viable UPA. Alternate is BSP if Mayavathi can find a suitable PM except her. She has strength and boldness and the capabilities as we saw in Mrs Indira Gandhi but lack in many other things. If she venture to become PM herself it will start her down fall and pull down the country by destroying the balance of power between Centre and States and equitable distribution of resources.

After yesterday's voting got over,Exit polls aired by TV channels have pointed to Congress emerging as the single largest party and best placed to form a government along with its allies. BJP and its NDA partners are not too far behind with polls pointing to a close contest between the alliance and Congress-led UPA. According to exit poll pointers, BJP has been hurt by its poor performance in states like Punjab where its alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal is floundering. So congress led UPA is looking most probably to come into power again & according to me it is the best bet for our country.

It is to difficult to predict this time around in india because several factors exists and it is impossible which way air going to blow. However BJP first time looks to be gaining slightly and there are good chances that BJP will emerge as biggest political party after Lok sabha Election. On the other hand, Congress looks to be slightly losing its ground and Congress may fail in getting more than 150 seats this time. First time, it also looks that NDA will get more seats than present UPA (minus parties like SP, LSP, RJD).

shahid bhai , it won't atleast be the farmer or the the common man who is the majority consumer of the harvest.

possibly the middle man or the govt. rate fixers.

this is an analogy on the basis of how a harvest goes from the field to the mandi to the factory and eventually to the end user
