Govt. has enough funds for ERP solution and more or later, it's necessary for Govt. to maintain centralized DB for all English concepts, starting from SSN [social security number]... and other upcoming concepts.

If India has to sustain it's DB for all the best solutions/ applications/ softwares to run integratedly, this is the time to start switching over to ERP..!

I believe SAP is a better solution..!

ERP needs lot of hardwork for the client to stabilize it and to bring it to it's desiarable form.

It is not an over night task..it needs years to roll out huge projects in ERP.

Moreover ERP is not a software merely..An organization needs to be restructured to fit into ERP structure.

If govt is in the mindset to run the govt arms in a corporate manner and recruite technical consultant/functional consultant and advisors who can spent their entire year on con-call to figure out structure and evolve an enviornment where end users of govt organizations and the implementor will take it up like a huge project then...why not.

And now India needs to think beyond SAP because there are other gorillas apart from the word SAP.

There are other Huge structured modern ERP like Oracle Apps which have huge presense in Europe and middle east and huge competetor of SAP.

Why not? ERP is showing its success in every field and the implementors are also getting a lot of profit because of that. I think for our present Indian Government's various sectors, implementing SAP will be a very good decision
