I would like to ask a very basic question. As curing is very necessary on every concreting, it should be ensured that each and every part of concreted surface should be cured. Then if a concrete structure is casted with a large depth then only its top surface comes into direct contact with water. Is this sufficient?
Then where do you think it shall be done? The water used in curing serves two purposes (a) neutralises the heat of hydration and (b) increases humidity around the concrete. Both prevent loss of moisture from the concrete. Now its only the exposed surfaces through which the water will be lost. In a slab only the top surface is exposed.
Moreover, I repeat where else do you think the curing shall be done?
