Recession rises from the sector where local and export businesses are very high (FMCG) or the nature of business is Finance! Construction industry feels the pressure of recession and does undergo an impact as the people who want to 'invest' 'buy' in this sector heavily depend on financial sectors to give them the necessary impetus. So actually construction industry like others 'feels' the impact only but is not the point where recession begins!!

I agree to Mr. Makrand Bhave that construction industry is not the starting point of recession. Construction market had an uncontrolled boom in recent past which is being corrected by this recession. Since this is one of the largest industry affecting a large population, the effect is much more compared to other industry.

There are many factors, it starts from some where but affects the construction industry. The reasons are like every company needs set up and obviously it starts with construction, you can not run a unit without having constructed or hired premises and due to recession the money flow is stagnated there will be no investment again the cost of raw materials like cement and still shoot up, there is financial crunch and if the finances are not recieved or arranged in time there would be delay in payments to suppliers and contractors, so obviously one problem leads to another and directly or indirectly it affects the construction industry.

Nice point you have raised ashish. Recession is not from Real estate. Recession start due to USA, it indirectly hit Real estate Every thing is link with other. Bcoz of USA market our shares market goes down, JAN 2oo7 share was 21000 now its around 10000/- Maximum people doing investment in  Real estate. Now the s/w industry doing cross cutting so its affecting construction. before IT public doing investment in real estate, now its not happened
