I would like to add one more point to it.
I believe that time also plays a huge role. The Indian audience has very recently started accepting rock music into the mainstream. Had this movie been produced some 5 or 10 years back, I am sure it would have been a major flop. Global music is receiving wide acceptance in India.
Few elements which hugely contributed towards the massive success of this movie is:
a) Director had a good vision of what he needs to do and did full justification to the script by making the right castings.
b) Experimented with newbees like Farhan Akhtar & Luke Kenny. Now, both of them are relatively fresh as actors. Farhan has been considered as one the Best directors in our country and Luke has always been popular with his music programming as Head - Channel V. So, the audience had certain degree of expectations from these two.
c) The music of the film has to be given major credit for its success. SEL (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) has done a fantastic job.
d) The movie was greatly paced. There was no point in the movie where we thought the director had put a pause to the story.
e) First of its kind in India, I believe, no movie has ever been directed before on Rock Genre.
But I strongly believe there were few glimpses of amateur direction to be seen in this movie. This is for you to find out !!! But overall, it's a refresher movie with superb casting, normal dialogue delivery, descent DOP, fantastic sound track.
Hope you all Agree with me !!!!
