In India we want to teach our students all at one go. But at the end of the session when you analyse the knowledge gained is next to zero. It is because we do not have a system of segregating students at an early stage of education as per their capability or interest. Once the system identifies the students interest, in the particular field, separate him/her and guide them into that field till the research levels. If this is done we will see an extraordinary set of intellectuals in all fields and we will never run short of brain banks.
Are students becoming lazy? Personally I don't find this to be taking place. In fact, our Indian students generally are among the most aggressive and focused. They are concerned about their future career, work hard to realize their dreams, and are quite aggressive in achieving their goals. Some students might be lazy and these are those who lack motivation, are studying courses they do not like, or have previous experiences that prevent them from being motivated.
What is taught should be put into practice! Where is the scope for applying the imbibed knowledge. What we need is an encapsulated version of putting the theory into practice. Higher learning should be linked to internship, not at the fag end of the course! Theories without application will only force the students to be lazy!
Unlike earlier days every couple wants to have only one child and that gets all the attention of the parents.Most cases both are employed unable to spend more productive time with the child.Order of the day is nucleus family and there is no elderly person to take care or to guide the child.So much of petting adds to all these.children naturally become lazy.
The Indian academic system - both the educators, the educated and the admisnistrative side - has been reduced to an industrial process. High school graduates go in one end and people with undergraduate qualification pop out the other end.
The same is true at high school level also. 9th standard graduates go in one end and after putting them through the paces like an animal in circus, three years later a +2 graduate pops out at the other end.
With a set up like this you expect them to be proactive, alert and creative? Of course they will be lazzy. The system makes them that way because they are denied all forms of motivation. They just sit still, not use their brains and follow due process they will get the diploma no matter what. And that "no matter what" includes the learning also!!
The statement is only PARTIALLY CORRECT. 100% students are not lazy. The students of poor family, who can hardly afford the present day costly education but are determined to develop their career, are not at all lazy, as they know that their career development and prosperity depends upon their education only.
Laziness can be found only in affluent students with the following two reasons:
1) Day-by-day overloading education system;
2) Affordability of The effluent students to outsource their educational assignments;
