| GENERAL EXCAVATION | ||||
| General excavation by mechanical means, in all types of soil, with necessary manual excavation for dressing the edges and leveling with all lead and lift, carting away the excavated material from the site to the designated dumping areas approved by the local authorities. Excavation shall be made below the lowest formed level. (backfilling will be paid for under separate item) (Excavation done by Bucket ) | ||||

General Excavation can be carried out without any obstruction as it is being a open portion or bulk excavation resulting more output hence the rate shal be less. Where as, in case of trenches, there will be limitations to proceed the work such as levels and alignment of trench, infact the depth which may need additional activities such as shoring work.
It is easy to carry out the general excavation as compaired to excavationin trenches either by equipments or even by manual depending on the situation of the work.
No rates have been given for both the items so no comparison. if both the items are carried manually Earthwork(EW) in trenches will be costlier that general EW becuase in treches working area is ristricted and in general excavation working area is not a limitation and out put will be more hence less cost.
