will online prvosional store/general store/grocery store work in india???
yes its right that people in india like to touch and feel the product b 4 buying. also indians buy online only those products which they have already tried and tested. and lots of products under grocery/provisionla store are tested and tried only. so what do u think keeping the above parameter of "tried and tested" in mind.]
Hello Mr. Jain,
My apologies for the delay. Here's the link to the article I referred to in my post a month ago http://www.business-standard.com/india/news/shop-till-you-drop-all-at-home/368558/
Regards
Online stores in India would not be succeeded becuase Indian people have human tendency that before they purchase they have to touch, feel & check the products whether it is suitable for them or not. In India people even dont buy the BRANDED PRODUCTS online becuase there are many disadvantages of it & people feel inconveniency too. In the case of Provision stores people of our country they store the provisional items in the month of March, April & May for whole year. Our population is not much literate to access internet & do online purchase of provisional products. Apart from these, the people who have Credit/Debit Card can only purchase online. so it is useless to start online provision stores, Kiranastores in India.
india is on a path to follow foreign countries n online stores are quite famous there and after some years it will be prestige symbol to buy things online and in todays fast going world it will be quite time as well as money saving thing... so definately after some years it is going to be a trend....

I had come across a business opportunity offered by a Gurgaon-based company planning to venture into this area.
I have spoken to a lot of people regarding consumer behavior if such an option was offered.
What I have heard is this ...
Consumer behavior will vary across different class of cities. For example, Bangalore will take to this idea a lot faster. Bangalore's consumers have little time to relax due to their professional lives. They find little time to shop and would love to have their shopping taken care of by a service provider. In a tier II city, where there is little in the way of entertainment or malls, doing the weekly grocery shopping is an outing and entertainment in itself.
In my opinion, the Tier I cities will see a quick response to this offering against other cities.
By the way, there was an article in the Business Standard of August 31st., that talked of two TV Channels planning to go into this business! Search for the article headed Shop till you drop, all at home."
