For those of you who are looking for statistical software to do some analytics related to your supply chain tasks, INFORMS has done an interesting evaluation of the existing statistical packages available in the market which you can study it here. The evaluation compares the features and pros and cons of almost all the major solutions such as SAS, SPSS, Minitab, @Risk, etc. So based on what are your regression, forecasting, and other requirements and your existing systems, you can choose one that best suits you. If you are now evaluating some options, this guide will definitely helps you; and I heard that they update it on an annual basis.

There are three points at which data leakage can occur, all of which must be kept in mind when developing a DLP strategy: * Data in motion -- what's going across the enterprise network, such as corporate email, webmail, forums, blogs and IM. * Data at rest -- stored not just in the data center but on laptops, desktops, USB keys, and even PIM information in mobile devices. * Data in use -- documents in use, where formerly protected data can be printed or simply copied and pasted ...

I had some opinions on those specific items and I was curious about that too. My feeling is that most vulnerabilities to a network come from more subtle sources than a blatant hacker. I work for a company with 20,000 employees and about 98% of them wouldn’t even know the definition of the word hacker. That being said they may know how to bring in their home laptop and connect it to the wireless network. If MAC filtering is enabled along with DHCP restrictions or SSID broadcasts disabled this may help protect a network from the majority of less technically savvy users that have just enough knowledge to connect to a network and do harm. Frankly speaking Half knowledge is always dangerous.. He...
