They will have sweet tongues silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power India will be lost in political squabbles. A day would come when even air water would be taxed in India .' In 1923, eight of the wealthiest people in the world met. Their combined wealth, estimated, exceeded the wealth of the government of the United States. These men knew how to make a living and accumulate wealth. and 25 years later....... 1. President of the largest steel company, Charles Schwab, died bankrupt. 2. President of the largest gas company, Howard Hubson, went insane. 3. One of the greatest commodity traders, Arthur Cutton, died insolvent. 4. President of the New York Stock Exchange, Richard Whitney, was sent to jail. 5. A member of the President’s Cabinet, Albert Fall, was pardoned from jail. 6. The greatest “bear” on Wall Street, Jessie Livermore, committed suicide. 7. President ...

Late last night while flipping television channels I saw TV Mohandas Pai, a former CFO and HR Head of Infosys, advocating ‘chemical castration’ for rapists. A leading television anchor also ran his show yesterday around the theme and instigated his celebrity panellists in trying to get them to advocate chemical castration for rapists in India. My heart is also thinking along similar lines. It even goes to the extent of telling me that the rapists should be stoned to death. But my head tells me even that won’t make a difference. Any solution is as good as the system that executes it. In a country like India if anything like chemical castration for committing rapes becomes the order of th...

Q. Why do men's clothes have buttons on the right while women's clothes have buttons on the left? A. When buttons were invented, they were very expensive and worn primarily by the rich. Since most people are right-handed, it is easier to push buttons on the right through holes on the left. Because wealthy women were dressed by maids, dressmakers put the buttons on the maid's right! And that's where women's buttons have remained since. Q. Why do ships and aircraft use 'mayday' as their call for help? A. This comes from the French word m'aidez - meaning 'help me' - and is pronounced approximately, 'mayday.' Q. Why are zero scores in tennis called 'love'? A. In France , where tennis be...

It usually takes us much longer to change our moods than we’d like it to take. Here are ten things you can do in ten minutes or less that will have a positive emotional effect on you and those you love. 1. Watch 'The Last Lecture' by Randy Pausch. See it online at Oprah.com. This is a deeply moving segment that may be the best ten minutes you've ever invested in front of a computer. 2. Spend a little while watching the sunset with your mate. Nothing extra is necessary. Just sit and take in the natural beauty of the sky and appreciate being able to share it with the one you love. 3. Sit quietly by yourself. It doesn't really matter where or when. Just let your feelings bubble up and then exp...

A young woman was picked up in a car outside a night club and raped at gunpoint by five men as they drove around the Maidan after midnight on February 5. They shoved a pistol into her mouth and punched and kicked her, saying 'Chillaogi to thok denge (We will shoot you if you scream).' She was dumped at Exide crossing about 90 minutes later, torn, bloodied and battered. If this sends a chill down your spine, here's worse - the police ignored her complaints when she mustered courage to report the incident two days later and even mocked her for going to a night club. Two officers allegedly passed sleazy remarks at her at Park Street police station, when she was summoned for a forensic examinat...

19 th November 2011 Noida, NCR Chapter We care – do you? Connecting the Old Age Homes/Orphanages to the Society Spurting life expectancy and plummeting social ethos: Each one of us is caught up in chasing our dreams and goals, but is least bothered about someone who needs our help next door. Life expectancy is steadily increasing, also the woes of the elderly ones who have been left out in the old-age homes by their ‘near and dear ones’ for obvious reasons. They deserve to live with dignity, and above all, want to secure themselves. Unfortunately, insecurity, loneliness and want of companionship have become a daily reality for the elderly persons. Loosely coupled members of the society: O...

A young woman who was invited to go rock climbing. Although she was scared to death, she went with her group to a tremendous granite cliff. In spite of her fear, she put on the gear, took a holdon the rope, and started up the face of that rock. Well, she got to a ledge where she could take a breather. As she was hanging on there, the safety rope snapped against Brenda’s eye and knocked out her contact lens. Well, here she is on a rock ledge, with hundreds of feet below her and hundreds of feet above her. Of course, she looked and looked and looked, hoping it had landed on the ledge, but it just wasn’t there. Here she was, far from home, her sight now blurry. She was desperate and began to g...
