According to the latest news, taking the attack of ' inherent racism ' seriously, software giant Hewlett-Packard (HP) has admitted that its new face-tracking webcam has some 'issues' with black users . This issue grabbed worldwide attention this month, after a YouTube video being posted by a U.S. man known as 'Black Desi' showed his HP webcam that is built into its new computer is refusing to track his face. According to news.com.au , the YouTube video quickly attracted some 500,000 hits and showed Black Desi's webcam working as it should when his work colleague 'White Wanda' stepped in front of the camera, but when 'Black Desi' got in front, no face recognition took place. These days, society really needs a low-cost, high-performance energy storage device, such as batteries and simple super-capacitors. For this, recently a new technology has come up with a battery made of paper to charge devices. The approach relies on the use of carbon nanotubes - tiny cylinders of carbon - to collect electric charge. Here a piece of paper is dipped into ink infused with carbon nanotubes and silver nanowires, it morphs into a real battery. Then, the piece of paper is crumpled and it still works. Stanford scientists are harnessing nanotechnology to quickly produce ultra-lightweight, bendable batteries and supercapacitors in the form of everyday paper. The paper batteries are ...

The U.S. Air Force is surely, prodding on the possibility and has proposed to buy 2,200 Sony PlayStation 3 video game consoles to use them as supercomputers. The Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, N.Y., is interested in the chip technology inside the PS3, specifically the Cell Broadband Engine Architecture, according a blog posted by Gartner analyst Andrea DiMaio. The Air Force is studying whether the PS3 chips could be a cost-effective technology for modernizing the military's high-performance computing systems. Supercomputer experts at the Air Force already have 336 PS3 consoles hooked together in an experimental Linux-based cluster. Now they want 2,200 more to expand the research pro...
