Brief summary :
M.Sc. Thesis: Functions of CD-33 related siglecs expressed on human monocytes & macrophages In my master thesis, I have studied the availability of the siglecs for trans-interactions and then isolated and tried to identify trans-binding partners from potential counteracting cells. As source for trans-binding partners I used K562 tumour cells. Since IL-1β and IL-6 production by mononuclear phagocytes can be induced via the recognition of Sia-residues expressed by tumour cells, indicates that Sia-specific lectins like the siglecs play role for this interactions | |
