1 AT&T will lose its exclusive rights to sell the iPhone
2 The Android mobile operating system will take off
Radha Sundaram  |  Added idea  " AT&T will lose its exclusive rights to sell the iPhone"  |  2 years ago
One indication that Apple will move to multiple U.S. carriers for the iPhone is the fact that Apple has struck deals with multiple carriers in various countries abroad. Economically, it doesn't make sense for Apple to stay with one carrier,...
Sonal Singh  |  Added idea  " The Android mobile operating system will take off"  |  2 years ago
It seems by next year, the Android could be the third most popular operating system, shipping on 65 million phones. That would put it behind first-place Symbian OS, which is used on Nokia devices and is projected to ship on 233 million phones...

With just a day left for the Government-imposed ban on illegal handsets to come into effect, the mobile operators have sought a two-month extension of the deadline. The operators who have set up 1,600 outlets for implanting the IMEI number on handsets through a standardised software are nowhere near reaching out to the 20 million consumers suspected of owning a handset without the number. The Department of Telecom, under the instruction of the Home Ministry, had directed operators to disconnect all subscribers with handsets without the IMEI number by November 30. Therefore, starting Tuesday, operators will start pulling the plug off such subscribers. “While we have directed our technical te...

I totally support the deadline. These phones are untraceable. And plus it voids the international security. The GSM put it mandatory in its specifications to have a "BURNED-IN IMEI No." that cannot be altered. These handsets were just violating it...

Its bad that they didn't extend the deadline for these mobiles to go off air, 20 million is not small number and there were very less outlets where these new IMEI numbers were given.
Abraham Paul  |  Commented  |  2 years ago
It is the primary responsibility of the Service Providers to ensure that no service is provided to mobile phones without IMEI number. it shows how irresposible the private operators are when it comes to security standards and quality of service.

You might have seen the ad where Abhishek bachchan tells walk n talk to his patients in an popular ad of Idea telecom network. But then researchers believe the other way around, Walking while talking on mobile phones may be dangerous for people. They also say that just listening to music on an iPod or other portable device doesn't pack the same risks as talking on a cell phone. The findings are based on two lab-based studies in which participants had to manoeuvre on a treadmill to cross a virtual street. Many people assume that walking is so automatic that really nothing will get in the way, But actually walking in environments that have lots of obstacles is perhaps not as automatic as one ...

SMS charges in India are the only telecom charges which have been immune from the fall witnessed in tariffs across the board. If TRAI had their way then SMS charges would also fall in line with other service charges. TRAI’s intention is to regulate the inter-connection charges for SMS in India. The latest report by TOI suggests that TRAI will soon come out with consultation paper in relation to telecom tariffs prevailing in the market. The consultation paper will question the high pricing method applied specially for messaging services by telcos. Currently the users pay anywhere between 60 paisa to 1 rupee as SMS charges. Although telco’s do offer schemes to provide cheaper SMS tariffs (aro...
