A Nagpur based entrepreneur claims to have developed a technology to harness wind pressure generated by a moving train and convert it into electricity. Santosh Pradhan, who has even obtained 22 national and international patents for the concept, is sure that his eco-friendly way of generating power was the answer to country’s electricity crisis and also to global warming. The technique has the potential to generate 14.81 lakh megawatt (MW) power in India alone, with its 63,000 route kilometers of railways and 14,300 trains operating every day. Pradhan says his calculations show that every single kilometer of the network of the Indian Railways can generate 20.89 MW of power every day. In fac...

I think possibilities of adopting such technologies into practice are very thin because a research person doesn't know anything about its business model. And we Indians have hundreds of similar patents for no use.

This technology can be very helpful in saving environment from co2 emissions. We need such ideas so as to provide a safe technology.Good work there.I appreciate that.

The much talked Copenhagen summit which holds the key to check carbon emissions across the globe is already in disarray. In a recent development from Copenhagen, there was a leaked draft, and the content in that draft is supposed to widen the rift between rich and poor nations according to reporters across the world. Three hours after the 'Danish text' had been leaked to the Guardian, Lumumba Di-Aping , the Sudanese chairman of the group of 132 developing countries known as G77 plus China, spelt out exactly why the poor countries he represents were so incensed. 'The text robs developing countries of their just and equitable and fair share of the atmospheric space. It tries to treat rich and...

The goal is to save our beloved planet. How to do is a complex proposition. We hope a fair deal and ultimately check carbon emission. One point : never miss the 'goal'.
sumedh jhingran  |  Commented  |  2 years ago
You are quite right. The leading producers of carbon Dioxide emissions which are US and China, were initially thought to have come to the point of making Copenhagen Summit a success, but now it seems that their rivalry is more of interest to them.SO...
