So how did you get into project management?  In my case it was simply a case of right place, right time - I was in a relatively small company that didn't have formal project management, but did have the need to undertake a major, industry wide initiative. I didn't run as fast as everyone else and the rest is history. I'm guessing for most people here the decision to become project managers was taken tactically, rather than strategically.  What I mean by that is that few people sit down with their guidance counselor and seek out advice as to how to become a PM.  Instead, what tends to happen is that people look for ways to advance their career from (say) software developer or business analyst...

This reminds me of the truth that just because you put a group of people together doesn't make them a team. Just because you finished a leadership development class doesn't make you a leader. And just because you put someone in the role of a project...

I agree and adding to this...Project managers' leadership definition is limited to "achieving the desired results" which is just one aspect of leadership.

As consumer markets fragment, marketers and designers must understand how platforms evolve and influence human behavior by David Armano Once upon a time, we were consumers. We consumed things. We took in the messages that were communicated to us. We didn't really get to talk back. If we had a good or bad experience with a product or service we told a friend. Maybe that friend told a friend. Maybe, just like the shampoo commercial from advertising's golden age, They'll tell two friends, and they'll tell two friends, and so on, and so on . Marketers are finding themselves in an increasingly frantic race to get people talking about their brands. The desire to produce something viral is nearly ...

I think India has come a very long way in the levels of education and the entrepreneurship skills will be quite successful in taking the economy to new heights. Entrepreneurs, generally, think differently than most professionals. They are very forward thinking and concentrate on what can be done rather then get caught up in what should be done. A focus on entrepreneurship in a profession of engineers should produce an interesting group of people who can solidify the possibilities for new Indian ventures rather than wait for a decent job to come along Also, I would like to tell you about the success story of an entrepreneur and engineer by profession :- James Dyson (Dyson), a UK-based engine...
