Tata Motors to introduce Air Car - Is it the next big thing? Tata Motors is taking giant strides and making history for itself. First the Landrover-Jaguar deal, then the world’s cheapest car and now it is also set to introduce the car that runs on air, compressed air to be specific. With fuel prices touching nearly $150 per barrel, it is about time we heard some breakthrough ! India’s largest automaker Tata Motors is set to start producing the world’s first commercial air-powered vehicle. The Air Car, developed by ex-Formula One engineer Guy Nègre for Luxembourg-based MDI, uses compressed air, as opposed to the gas-and-oxygen explosions of internal-combustion models, to push its engine’s ...

For forty years since India's independence from the British in 1947, the Indian car market was dominated by two localized versions of ancient European designs -- the Morris Oxford, known as the Ambassador, and a old Fiat. This lack of product activity in the Indian market was mainly due to the Indian government's complex regulatory system that effectively banned foreign-owned operations. Within this system (referred to informally as the "license raj"), any Indian firm that wanted to import technology or products needed a license/permit from the government. The difficulty of getting these licenses stifled automobile and component imports, creating a low volume high cost car industry that was inefficient, unprofitable, and technologically obsolete. The two dominant products Ambassador and Fiat, although customized to the poor road conditions in India, were based on a stale design concept (with outdated features), and were also fuel inefficient. Then came the abolition os license raj,...

India should retaliate China continues its policy of needling India on various issues India’s China policy is going nowhere. The Chinese have bluntly declared that they will continue with their policy of issuing stapled visas as usual. Now the ball is in the Indian court. The Indian pride is at stake. And it is not 1962 when Indian troops fought the Chinese without rudimentary battle uniform and were mauled. India has to retaliate in such a manner that it hits China hard. Nothing will hit China harder than a new Indian position that it is no longer for one-China policy. India has to come up with a double T-dose of Tibet and Taiwan to deal with China’s sole T-obsession: Tawang, a part of Arunachal Pradesh which indeed is an integral part of India. India did not sing the one-China hymn in the joint communiqué signed at the conclusion of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s recent visit to New Delhi. That was pragmatic but not bold enough. India has to send the enough-is-enough message...

Hi friends,I got this wonderful piece of information wanted to share with you all...plz give your opinion after reading.... The exact period of Vedas, Upanishad, Ramayana, or Mahabharata may still be a matter of debate, but no body can deny the fact that during all these periods feeding a hungry person was treated as a greatest service to man kind. “Anna daanam mahaa daanam” is a very popular Sanskrit verse which has motivated millions of Indians to perform this divine act and in ancient India in most of the temple premises there were annadana centers. But, things have changed drastically and now we can see very few temple premises which run annadanam schemes. Healthy rural Indian economy has become sick as British rulers tightened their grips on administration and in 1947 when they left India for ever their policies have forced millions of villagers to hold begging bowl in their hands.India can regain its lost glory only if our younger generation can live with dignity and I feel...

Importance of Distance Education in India Asif Ahmed After independence, India had made tremendous progress in the field of education, though mostly quantitative in nature. Earlier, education was available only to the elites in society, and a large majority of poor and marginalized people remained illiterate. Political considerations have an important role in the expansion of higher education, especially at the state level. The state government experienced tremendous pressure from the public to establish more and more colleges and universities. In a democratic society, even the strong governments find it very difficult to resist such pressures and are compelled to succumb to the same. These considerations have led to fast expansion of higher education in our country, which in turn, have adverse impact upon its quality....
