Your mobile’s bluetooth is the next big wisdom for admen and marketers. Step into a mall or temple, and your mobile complements its surroundings with local ads, special offers, merchandise, directions, aarti timings and what have you. All you need is to switch on the cell and ‘bluecasting’ takes over. While malls are making full use of this proximity marketing, as advertisers call it, retail chains, manufacturers of apparel, consumer durables and banks are also getting connected. Have faith, even temples in southern states are using it to the benefit of devotees. Coimbatore’s Vasavi temple is one such example. While companies provide discount coupons apart from freebies to lure them to their...

Whether we notice it or not, wireless technology is everywhere and is changing the way we live, work and play. One such wir...

By Wolfgang Gruener Friday, April 10, 2009 16:50 Chicago (IL) – It seems we may be getting a much faster Bluetooth technology soon. Previously called Bluetooth UWB, the new Bluetooth 3.0 is expected to be at least 18 times faster that the current 2.0 + EDR version. In fact, it may be fast enough to be described as a broadband connection and it may have a shot to be integrated in consumer electronics devices to transfer media files. As a wireless data transfer technology Bluetooth has always remained in the shadow of Wi-Fi and is limited today to applications such as Bluetooth headsets. For more serious personal area network (PAN) connections which would have enabled, for example, the tra...

Free Style Marketing How many times have you been to a business conference that guided the world to sell things for free? Well, if you never heard about one, then you need to know about Nokia World 2007 Conference where Chris Anderson, Editor in Chief talks to the world referring to this. The campaign broke all the traditional rules of selling a service product. As per Chris, the new way to sell today has changed focus from the actual product to the complementary product or supporting product that could enhance the selling of original product. Chris talks about the new selling concept of 0 + 2 = 2 in contrary to the old concept of 1+1 = 2. Now, what the hell does he mean by this Maths..? Consider Company A that sells both - the products and the services on the same products. As per the traditional earning model Company A earned Rs 1 revenue from selling the product and Rs 1 revenue from the services on the product. The modern way of selling sacrifices the revenue on product to earn...

What could be wrong with the Stock Market? Today, the 1 standard deviation event occurred, Sensex numbers. Economy is predicted to grow at 10% next fiscal. Credit market working ok. No subprime troubles. Industrial numbers grew around 9% till this quarter compared to 7.8% last fiscal same time. American numbers very encouraging. Showing median of 20% less trouble than last year. What could be the explanation of the markets heading south, when it is supposed to give a 0.02% daily return. The reason can be the unprecedented upward movement of the Dow. The Quants there might not have expected the sudden surge in the index there. The hedge funds and mutual funds there depends heavily on leverage. For every 1 dollar of invested funds they can leverage beyond 10 times that. Then they short certain quantity of investment with the long position say like 70/30, 70 long and 30 short or 120/40 the same way. If their Quant models misbehave like there short positions start loosing...
