Slumdog Millionaire is really a movie that made me proud. It is not often that movies made in India are given this wide acclaim by western audiences. It was really touching to see a part of life that many of us often take for granted, and sometimes we need a good dose of reality. ' Slumdog Millionaire' does exactly that. Veteran actor Anil Kapoor and the very versatile Irfaan Khan were superb in their roles and show that Indian actors do have what it takes to star in foreign films. I made a comment to my friends that more people should look at the performances of Anil Kapoor and Irfaan Khan. It was high class acting. As an Indian- movie lover, it was a proud moment to see this acceptance be...

The movie industry is full of prima donnas, overpaid incompetents and people who talk endlessly just for the pure pleasure of it. Nothing like your industry, is it? Hollywood, with its glittery red carpet premieres, may not seem to have much in common with banking, health care or auto manufacturing. But I believe it shares a key trait with every large, well-established industry: For more than a century, every time an important innovation knocked on Hollywood's door, the industry treated it like a homely auditioner—giving it the cold shoulder and trying to show it the door. The movie industry ignored or tried to stave off sound, color, television, home video, computer animation, and digital ...

Most articles like this will tell you what to do during an interview to form a good impression on your hopefully future employer. Since every other “advice guru” has been there, done that and won a t-shirt too, we’ve decided to take this opportunity to enlighten you all on a few things you must NOT do during an interview. First things first, let’s talk appearance. Under no circumstance should you EVER show up for an interview wearing jeans and flip-flops, even if the company maintains a casual dress code. Do your research, find out what kind of environment the office maintains, through their website or by contacting their HR department, and dress accordingly. All you men make sure your nails are clipped short, haircut and combed neatly and make sure you apply aftershave because no one likes a smelly Tom cat. As for you women, make sure you get a neat pedicure done. Avoid showing up with long, talon like nails, too much make-up and messy hair. “Dressing down” will give the...

The damn myth! Of all the MBA's entrance examinations conducted all over the world, there is one ridiculously conducted mysterious exam for all MBA aspirants and it's called CAT. New entrants may think the full form as Common Aptitude Test, but veterans pretty well know it's not the thinking that matters but it is the ability to think that matters. It is called Common Admission Test. Majority of the rookies may try the exam for fun for the first time while second timers would be pretty serious about CAT. If you want to mark an oval as your answer on the OMR sheet or if you want to click the correct...

Politics and government are treated as words with negative connotations in the Indian society. Interestingly, the same is not true for many countries in other parts of the world. In a first of its kind initiative, the Research Foundation for Governance in India (RFGI) has taken up the task of educating the young minds of Ahmedabad about how the political systems across the world work. Curtis Riep, a graduate in international relations from University of Calgary, Canada; Ramiro Gomes Monteiro, political sciences and history student at Utrecht University, Netherlands; Catherine See, student of international relations at the National University of Malaysia; Katie Farrer, bachelor of law and political science at University of Otago, New Zealand; Joshua Stark, student of international development from McGill University, Canada; along with Swar Shah, Apoorv Shah and Kanan Dhru of the RFGI team have been visiting different schools and colleges in the city. They interact with youths about...
