Absolutely! Unless you do not get a fix on WHO your users are, you cannot be sold and used! You have to focus on the TG and then strategise your positioning!

Attract Clients with Your Business Card   ONE: Keep your card 'reader friendly' by providing ample white space. Unfortunately, we are tempted to jam as much information on the card as the printer can squeeze in. However, people don't want to bog down by reading lengthy paragraphs. Note how short this one is, and the one before it. Easy to read, don't you think? TWO: Display your photo on your card. Think what happens when the prospect you met at the reception flips through the cards she collected. Which people will she remember most easily? The ones with photos, of course. For many years, real estate pros have acted on this assumption, and they are right. An important caution: Be sure t...

Busy being stupid     I believe in “Keeping what you earn ” and working smart not hard . That means that a lean and mean practice is best where you achieve your objectives quickly and then relax for the second half of the day to do good strategic work, catch up on your reading, visit some clients for a casual coffee, etc.   However, there are some legitimate expenses which can be classified as 'the cost of doing good business' which, ironically, many try to eliminate. Taking a vacation for two weeks and leaving a message on your voice mail along with an auto-respond on your email stating you're away and will be unreachable until you return. If you were to call in to your voice mail and chec...

Companies are not able to effectively concentrate on their target customer and they spend most of their resources on customers who are not their main customers.

The education management industry is again changing drastically, with the pressures of global recession . The expectation of the student, in the post recession world, and expectation of the Industry from a Management student is also changing . Industry has started looking credibility of a Management Student beyond his degree and academic performance . Industry understands the word 'DO'. At the end of the day , that is what defines the credibility of the Management Student , in the viewpoint of Industry . At ISB T ( Indian School of Business Transformation) both the Board of Directors , Board of Advisers and the Board of Faculties ,Student coordinators, has an extensive focus on the Word 'DO...

Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach strongly recommends that all business owners (especially small business owners) develop succession plans. And to develop them now, rather than later. Succession planning is very important to the long-term success of any company. Leadership transitions in business affect the entire organization’s continuity, employee retention, client retention and returns on investment. It is essential to create and implement a process that creates visibility, accountability and greater integration of all facets of the business. The rapidly changing demographics in the workplace prove that there is a real challenge to find talent for leadership roles. Companies that ar...

Nicholas Carr's article "IT Doesn't Matter" (Harvard Business Review, May 2003) challenges the value proposition for IT. He argues that as companies become more dependent on IT for their day-to-day operations, so the emphasis switches to managing availability, reliability and security. As such, businesses should manage IT as a commodity. Do you subscribe to the Carr view? Do you align IT with the business in a purely supportive role? But innovations within IT continue to create possibilities and options for businesses that did not exist before. But where IT engages the business, pro actively and as an equal, companies will be able to continue to deliver strategic advantage through IT. The following will be useful in assessing the level of business engagement: - to whom does the IT function report in your business? For example, the Board (where the CIO/IT director is a Board member), the CEO (who has a business development focus), the COO (who has a business operations focus) or the...

Procrastination is a process by which an individual postpones taking actions they feel they ought to be taking. This postponement can be temporary, or it may drag on indefinitely, resulting in the desired action never being taken. Many people have problems with procrastination, ranging from simply putting things off until the last minute to actually failing to accomplish anything they set out to do because they continue to postpone it. There are a number of strategies for tackling procrastination, most of which involve reorganizing basic habits, and learning beneficial ways of thinking about individual tasks Essential to the idea of overcoming procrastination is the understanding that it is not an innate, or irreconcilable problem. Procrastination is a set of learned behaviors which get in the way of accomplishing specific goals. Like all learned behaviors, procrastination can be unlearned, and more productive methods of interaction can instead be achieved. Creating concrete to do...

Don’t forget the power of    POSTCARDS. Often that is all you need to get the basic message across,   I read this line when I was new to retail, In the age of  21, I started my retail business with a very small loan amount, one thing I was very much sure about was, as soon my retail will be popular in the area I will have too face heavy competitions. Retailers with more money, man power, better space, and better in everything will soon grow for competition, So from the very first day we concentrated on   customer relationship, and as I told you I read this line in a book and Implemented   the policy, we started collecting the data of the customer and tried to write them before every season, In the beginning as we had lack of money I my self use to write it, it   use to take four nights sitting but we use to do it manually to save money, our writing by hand was to   save money but it gave a very good message to customer and we had excellent    response from their side. This I...

Most IT project evaluations are like the tail wagging the dog. They begin with IT strategy, rather than the goals of the business. In fact, IT strategy should be the third link in a chain that begins with business strategy, which in turn governs the product or service strategy, which then drives IT strategy. Lets understand this with a mid size CRM company Business strategy: Increase the customer base by 20 percent in the next year by providing increased functionality such as business operations analytics and executive dashboards. Product strategy: Develop an alliance with a business intelligence (BI) software company to add analytical capabilities to the CRM software. IT strategy: Create a new software platform that allows for easy integration with the BI software company and others. IT projects: Develop a Web services–based platform that offers universal data exchange and messaging between the CRM software and the BI software.   While this hierarchy reveals whether IT projects...
