The book ‘Chronicles of Ancient Astronauts’ has interesting answers to the questions of where the Lanka in Ramayana is and ‘How could Hanuman cross 800 miles of ocean without a ship?’ According to Ramayana and Puranas, Lanka was actually established in Malayan Islands by the Maya Empire to serve as its colony in Asia, long before Ravan was born. After the Mayas were defeated in Tripur war, the Mayas were evacuated from Lanka and sent back to their homeland Atlantis or what the Indian records call Paataal .
