As per my experiance i believe Oracle is better than MS SQL server. One point i have to mention here is,once we remove the data from MS SQL server, then we don't have any option to retrive the deleted record but in Oracle we can rollback.

I would like to move all the databases on single server to improve query performance since queries are well optimized when it uses cross database joins on same server.
