About "Collaboration" topic:
Even with the best and most skilled managers, organizations must be able to tap into the varied skills and wider perspectives of other employees. So it is essential that leaders know how to collaborate and develop effective partnerships with others. It is one of the elements that makes a manager a true leader. Collaboration is the vehicle for sharing responsibility and combining knowledge, creativity, and experience of others. Establishing collaborative relationships is not always natural or easy, particularly because people have different lifestyles, backgrounds, and experiences. Effective leaders know how to collaborate when it isn’t easy and we will learn about it here.

Servant leadership is an approach to leadership coined and explained by Robert Greenleaf who suggests that effective leadership is not about doing something TO followers, or manipulating people, but involves serving their needs (hence the use of the word servant). That's not to say the needs and goals of an organization come second to what the employees in that organization want, but that the servant leader becomes responsive, aware of and in touch with those in the organization that actually do the work of the organization. It becomes a balancing process. One of the reasons servant leadership makes a great deal of sense is that it recognizes a reality of human functioning. Whether leaders ...

Collaboration is both a process and an outcome in which shared interest or conflict that cannot be addressed by any single individual is addressed by key stakeholders. A key stakeholder is any party directly influenced by the actions others take to solve a complex problem. The collaborative process involves a synthesis of different perspectives to better understand complex problems. A collaborative outcome is the development of integrative solutions that go beyond an individual vision to a productive resolution that could not be accomplished by any single person or organization. The critical need to work effectively with other health care disciplines has been discussed repeatedly in nursing ...

Dell has seen a decline in its sale in the last year. And by doing this it is obstructing its own ways. If anyone wants other operating system then they would definitely not go for it.

Author: Rami Taibah Just a month ago Mozilla gave us the final version of Firefox 3.5 giving us a lot of nifty features like HTML5, private browsing, smarter session control among others. But Mozilla aren’t the kind of people who sit on their laurels, they already posted screenshots of Firefox 3.7 a week ago, and today we have Mozilla Firefox 4.0 screenshots ! Unfortunately the screenshots are for Windows, none for Linux yet. Also, they warned that these are just a draft for exploration and/or brainstorming. Basically they are pondering two GUI changes. Tabs location and a combo Stop/Refresh/Go Button. Tabs Location: Top or Bottom? Should tabs be “Tabs-on-Bottom,” or the current setting O...

In many ways, a manager has to be a leader, so therefore a manager will have many of the traits that a leader does. However, I feel the term 'manager' applies primarily to business, it's in a manager's best interest to lead his co-workers effectively, encouraging them to achieve their goals and targets. In my experience, a leader is more of a social thing; more associated with team work, too. Go to Discussion http://lnkd.in/wUJe5E

The other day I was in a restaurant and saw a sign advertising "Sliders Fridays." From what I gathered, they offered a deep discount on tiny hamburgers, called sliders, on Friday nights. The interesting thing about this discovery is that I own the restaurant and it's the first I knew of it. (Stacey's at Waterford: www.eatatstaceys.com ) I don't just own the restaurant. I also manage it, although I use that term loosely. I've taken the concept of hands-off management to the next level. Most of the time I have no idea what the staff is up to. They organize customer events, execute marketing ideas, hire and fire, change the menu, and pretty much anything else they want. I only get involved if there is a largish expense that needs to be approved. I see the financials daily, by e-mail, but I'm mostly about the bottom line. As a well-known critic of managers, I painted a big red bulls eye on my back when I started managing the restaurant. For the first year I was involved in the details...

This is an ‘untold story’ from Mahabharat, published in a Sanskrit Magazine, many years ago. My father used to read it out to me and translate into my mother tongue. It goes like this: Duryodhan is lying in the battle field, awaiting death, badly bruised by the wounds inflicted by Bhima. He kept his three fingers in a raised position and is unable to speak. All the efforts made by his men to understand the meaning proved to be futile. Seeing his plight Krishna approached him and said “I know what issues occupied your mind. I will address them”. He clarified that the issues are a) not building a fort around his capital city, b) not persuading Vidur to participate in the battle c) not making Aswathama as commander-in-chief after the death of Dronacharya. Krishna explained further that (a) Assuming that you built a fort, I would have asked Nakul to mount the horse and destroy the fort, (b) If you succeeded in persuading Vidur to participate in the battle, I would have...
