Most projects have targets, which means they have to built right, within a cost budget, and finished by a certain date. Project management is simply making sure that all these targets are met. 1 Bad Management
2 Due to lack of two factors. 1- Decisions. 2- Money
SHRIKANT MANOHAR DANKE  |  Supported idea  "Poor Planning or No Planning "  |  9 days ago
I support for poor planning or no planning. Planning is the key to success of the project, then whether it is for resources/material/finance. It is the major cause due to which project fails.
ABHIJIT KULKARNI  |  Supported idea  "Lack of Communication"  |  20 days ago
i agree to this as there is no proper communication at various levels, it bound to fail.... more over its a greed to earn more and give less is one of the prime cause as well..
Rajiv Ranjan Srivastava  |  Supported idea  "Bad Management"  |  1 year ago
Bad management is the core problem for failure of project and all other problems being discussed are the branches of bad management only. Poor management do not allow a systematic process of working with defined responsibilities of parties...

Baljit wonderful argument. I support you. Even I think PMP certificate is important because ever though you are talented you need some proof/certificate to show you are specialized is that. That too in India certificates has more value. So it is...

I really agree with this.... it's very tough to simulate with what we plan with out executions
M NITIN SHENOY, PMP, IPMA-D, CEng MICE  |  Argues in support of  "Yes"  |  1 year ago
PMP crdentials are issued only to those competent candidates who are well versed with PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge), a practical, time tested and globally agreed standard. And projects in construction industry are the most...

pandianarjunan  |  Added idea  "resources-RBS/resources levelling"  |  8 months ago
Mainly in Indian construction field all the risks are due to resources management only. The environmental factors or weather conditions  can easily overcome by our project managers , but they have to fail only because of resourcs based factors...

1 Lack of visualisation
2 Lack of Practical knowledge
Tagore  |  Supported idea  "Blindly relying on Vendor Quotes for Estimates...!!!"  |  25 days ago
Most of the mistakes come due to blind acceptance of numbers given by vendors. Interpreting with different modes can give an exact value. Vendors always rise their rates to enhance negotiation
Santosh Kumar  |  Added idea  "Lack of Visualization, Communication and Analysis"  |  1 month ago
Improper communication to all impacted team/individual and lack of complete analysis leads to wrong cost estimation. One requires complete visualization of the project. Identifying all the impacted area/persons help to accumulate the complete cost.
Shaju George  |  Supported idea  "Lack of visualisation"  |  1 year ago
Correct.. once you can visualise plans properly, chances of errors are very less.

I think an available datum on 'lessons learnt' from various construction projects could improvize the construction industry as whole. Please contribute your opinion on this issue.

1 Increase overhead due to delay.
2 Loss due to delayed production hence financial failure.
rakeshbhatnagar  |  Added idea  "Loss due to delayed production hence financial failure."  |  1 year ago
If any project is delayed to what so ever may be the reason , it may increase the expenditures which may cause financial crisis as the budget fails.Delay in product will bloc the return or the incoming deficiency will be created.
rakeshbhatnagar  |  Added idea  "Increase overhead due to delay."  |  1 year ago
If communication is poor delayed schedule will affect the over heads, the cost by virtue of time hike in material rates, thus entier cost is increased.

RESULT = Func(EFFORT, NOISE) EFFORT  = Your input (Decisions Actions) towards attainment of Set Goal or RESULT. The Success and % of Accompalishment of RESULT, also depends  on the NOISE. NOISE =  Negative Impact on account of Other's Input (Decisions Actions) If Noise is in your Favour, then you are Lucky       i.e. 100% EFFORT gives 100% RESULT If Noise is against you, then you are Unlucky        i.e. 100% EFFORT gives lesser than 100% RESULT At any case RESULTS can be at PAR or BELOW EFFORTS made but NOT ABOVE EFFORTS MADE... Hence, if anyone says I expected 80% in Exam but scored 85%, and he calls himself LUCKY... Then its wrong statement , he scored 85% because his efforts were at par

Nitin well said. So to put it in two words, Luck can act as a noise supressor so that you get result equivalent to ones efforts. I will consider myself lucky if everybody accepts this gives me thumbsup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jithesh Ramesh  |  Commented  |  1 year ago
People say so much about luck playing a major factor in one's success, but after reading this one can say that one underestimated their own capability and thought that luck had a major role to play.

Fixing the  period of gestation for a project is a very critical decision. The planning parts lacks the spirit. The project is slated to be completed without brain storming and resolving the issues of critical activities.

As project manager, you are the Agency’s senior decision maker on the project and should be delegated that commensurate decision making authority. Where the Agency’s governance policy requires actions to be approved by the Agency’s board, the PMP and Agency administrative procedures should not unduly delay the construction schedule. Similarly, your project procedures should delegate authority to the CM staff for activities contracted out to the CM. You should base the division of duties between the Agency and CM on who is best suited to the function. Typically the Agency deals with project’s stakeholders and the CM with the technical matters concerning contractor work. Below are the Agency
