Indians appear to be prone to swings in their can-do-can't-do yoyo psyche. Today it is 'can do why not'?
Are Indians to sustain this 'Can Do' attitude and overcome limitations relative to other successful emerging economies like China? Or after a dash of excessive exuberance, will Indians conclude that realising economic potential is just one of the priorities that is on the table and they need to wait and see what can be done over a long long time with the To Do list dwarfing the Can Do fundamentals? Or is there an Indian model of economic development which is evolving and once in place, will realise India's economic development differently defying comparisons and delivering in terms of certain parameters which were not well reckoned by the rest of the emerging growth economies?

The purpose was right there to provide birth/seat when all the quotas are over. But the beureaucracy that Indian railways have is that there is only one quota that is VIP quota. No other quota works for general public, hence the objective becomes...

What Indian Business Education don’t provide for the Environment. Value generated and transacted in Business is the hallmark and pillar of the skill generated from a Business education. A business when it sell products in India, they don’t worry about the affordability of their wares by the masses let alone functionality which may be part of it. A business incurs around 40% of fixed cost component along with may be 30% variable cost and probably the rest as ‘conversion cost’. What Business education teach us and what is followed in Efficient economies is they fix a breakeven point say 100 units of sale. These 100 units will provide the years cost incurred. After this point they will start giving discounts say 10% or so, so that more of products will move at lowered costs. If products are priced far above these three costs then the demand will subside and the production line will stagnate even for normal production. Two things are required in the environment for this process to...

How IT cos hurt environment The machines that handle the world's computing tasks are also some of the planet's biggest polluters . Data centers, PCs, mobile phones and gaming consoles use electricity that frequently comes from coal-burning power plants or other sources of energy that give off high carbon emissions. The information and communication technology (ICT) industry in the US is on track to quadruple its consumption of electricity between 2009 and 2020, according to a study released today from the Institute for Sustainable and Applied Infodynamics (ISAID) in Singapore and Rice University in Houston, Texas . Unless electronics can be altered to become significantly more energy-efficient, the related carbon emissions from these products are set to grow as well, says the report. In the US carbon emissions related to tech products will grow from 72.95 megatons of carbon dioxide released in 2009 to 195.06 megatons released in 2020. About 6 per cent of the world's...

Software as a service (SaaS) is the talk of the day and it will increase in its popularity since there a scope of opensource to push it higher and higher. Gartner predicts that SaaS will be driven by opensource in the future. And the prediction is supported by facts and figures. By 2010, 90 percent of software as a service (SaaS) providers will have some open-source component in their technology infrastructure stacks (that is, operating system, application server and database) to reduce software acquisition expenses, according to Gartner, Inc. User communities are expanding around application-platform-as-a-service providers and will leverage open-source practices for sharing software applications. As the number of software as a service users increase the opensource support will also grow along with it, definitely. The more SaaS vendors use open source in the technology stack, the lower their software acquisition cost becomes. Users, however, should not expect cost savings to be...
