The role of the internet in Egypt's revolution has definitely been overstated. If you look at the available data on the degree of internet penetration in the country as well as the number of mobile cellular subscriptions per 100 people, the...

Hi friends,                Can Anything Stop The Facebook Juggernaut?  So. Facebook.  $35 billion valuation ; 600 million users ;  25% of all US Web traffic  — and all that with fewer employees than Google has job openings . The inventor of the World Wide Web recently warned that the web  may be endangered  by Facebook’s colossal walled garden. A Google engineer was recently  paid $3.5 million  to not jump ship to work there. Facebook seems an unstoppable juggernaut. And I kind of want them to die.                                                  Not because of their policies. They’ve been reasonably sensitive to their users’ wants, and willing to admit when they were wrong (remember Facebo...

It’s a very old trick, and arguably a mighty effective one. Ask people to set your website as their homepage, and it will become their entry point to the Web, the very first thing they’ll see when they open their browser. People noticed that Facebook started prompting visitors to set the site as their homepage before the weekend, by means of a bar at the top that actually shows some pictures and names of your Facebook friends. Others have reported to see the bar popping up as well.  You can see two other pop-up messages below, and you’ll notice that they differ from the one embedded above. From the looks of it, Facebook is A/B testing this with a small subset of users, and trying out a vari...

Internet users can make any website as their homepage by just a simple click available in browser's options menu. Whenever I open my browser I use to get G-mail and Facebook as my homepage. Many users opt for 'Tabs opened last time'. So this idea,...

Facebook will be the Gamechanger for the whole world. It has already revolutionised the way we do social networking. Very soon, we might see companies adopting Facebook Professional Network for their employees to interact among one another. As per Mark Zuckerberg - 'Email will be a thing of the past.'

Many of us use facebook. Job hhunting on facebook does not look much believable and we are forced to think that will it work? Still there are few things which can be done to atleast increase our possibilities. 1. Join right communities and interact with right poeple. 2. Search for apps which have job search options. 3. Potray yourself in the best possible way. 4. Mention your professional skills on your profile. 5. Keep an eye on adverts, there are many job openings in them   We all work hard for a better life and we always want better job than the one we have. So we should use all the possible means to make it happen.

Every month, Google makes tons of tiny changes to the way search works. It shares them in company blog posts that present a list of carefully scripted bullet points with mysterious code names in an inscrutable order. Google never comments on the changes beyond these announcements, but it's always informative to spread the puzzle pieces out on the table and see what Google is up to. Here's what changed in April. We thought there were a lot of changes in March, but April was even bigger. Google changed 52 things about its search algorithm last month. As usual, you don't need to worry about a bunch of them. But the most interesting of the latest search changes fall into three important categories. Smarter The more Google can guess (correctly) what we're looking for, the faster we can find it. Google is getting better at untangling our spelling mistakes, interpreting our meaning and answering our questions. One update helps Google interpret your intention by looking at your last few...

Yes they are going to be here.. and the first destination is Bangalore... Google cars and trikes will begin driving and taking street level photographs of public locations around the city. The images will be made available at a later date in Street View on Google Maps. Street View is a popular feature of Google Maps , already available in more than 27 countries. It allows users to virtually explore and navigate a neighborhood through panoramic street-level images. It is also available on Google Maps for mobile. In countries where Street View is available, the user can access street-level imagery by zooming into the lowest level on Google Maps, or by dragging the orange "Pegman" icon on the left-hand side of the map onto a blue highlighted street. In addition to the cars, the Google Trike - a specially designed three-wheel pedi-cab with a camera system mounted on top - will start gathering images from select locations in the area such as the Nrityagram Dance Village over the next...
