About "Will Pakistan be a failed state?" topic:

The threat of the Taliban's influence is increasing by the day in Pakistan and in  its neighbouring countries. The people of Pakistan are also living in trepidation and fear from terrorists and suicide bombers who have wreaked havoc in the country. Throughout the Muslim world, people do not matter in the scheme of things of the rulers, but in Pakistan people have to suffer on every count. Corruption of all descriptions and dimensions and at all levels has spread like cancer in the society. Society is divided vertically, horizontally as well as diagonally on ethnic, sectarian and regional lines.

No India Geronimo for Pakistan Contrary to Pakistani apprehension as aired by Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir in Islamabad this week, a senior Indian official has categorically stated that his country has no plans to emulate the United States’ ‘Operation Geronimo’ that killed Osama bin Laden and launch surgical strikes to smoke out Pakistan-based Mumbai attack conspirators. New Delhi's understanding is that when Bashir warned of a ‘terrible catastrophe’ (a veiled threat of using nuclear weapons) if a foreign power were to launch another Abbottabad-type operation, he was warning India off in a way he wouldn’t dare do to the United States.  However, the Indian government appears to be plannin...

Atleast 41 people were killed and more than 100 injured in an heavy explosive, where a minibus packed with explosives detonated along a road near a well-known and crowded market in Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar toda, killing at least 41 people and wounding dozens, officials said. The attack in the Khyber Bazaar area demonstrated terrorists' continuing ability to strike Pakistan's major cities, despite military offensives pressuring their networks. Television footages are showing the charred skeleton of what appeared to be a bus flipped on its side in the middle of a major road. Twisted remains of a motorbike lay alongside the bus. A nearby vehicle was in flames. The attack came d...

My friend Rizwan Khan mailed me this interesting draft made by a Pakis journalist.   Written by a Pakistani journalist about India MUST READ Capital suggestion By Dr Farrukh Saleem 12/9/2007 Here's what is happening in India : The two Ambani brothers can buy 100 percent of every company listed on the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) and would still be left with $30 billion to spare. The four richest Indians can buy up all goods and services produced over a year by 169 million Pakistanis and still be left with $60 billion to spare. The four richest Indians are now richer than the forty richest Chinese. In November, Bombay Stock Exchange's benchmark Sensex flirted with 20,000 points. As a consequence, Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries became a $100 billion company (the entire KSE is capitalized at $65 billion). Mukesh owns 48 percent of Reliance. In November, comes Neeta's birthday. Neeta turned forty-four three weeks ago. Look what she got from her husband as her birthday present: A...

Floods deluge Pak With Strategic Problems   The Zardari government's inefficient handling of the floods is reminiscent of the General Yahya Khan government's thoroughly inept rescue and relief operations in the wake of the devastating Bhola cyclone in East Pakistan in 1970 that sowed the seeds of Pakistan's dismemberment, argues  Rajeev Sharma.   Pakistan's worst-ever floods may drown President Asif Ali Zardari himself. He is increasingly being seen as the modern time's Nero. He chose to be abroad when floods deluged large parts of his country, displacing over 20 million people, much more than the 2004 Asian tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir earthquake and the 2010 Haiti quake all put together. The Zardari government's inefficient handling of the floods is reminiscent of the General Yahya Khan government's thoroughly inept rescue and relief operations in the wake of the devastating Bhola cyclone in East Pakistan on November 12, 1970 that sowed the seeds of Pakistan's dismemberment....

After two cardic arrests now Dawood is looking for a burial spot in Mumbai. He is one of the most wanted men in India. It is the power he has which has kept him away from getting caught. Though police says they are strictly following his movements still they are yet not arresting him anyways. How funny is the fact that newspaper jounalists know that his men and he are finding a spo for his burial but do not give away his whereabouts and even when police knows the same nothing ever happens. He is famous for hiding out of India. Crime branch has spent millions in keeping a track of him but still have never been able to catch him. Though he is responsible for 1993 serial blasts in mumbai he is still free. Even while he helds lavish weddings for his daughters and everyone knows about the location no one wants to risk his life by going against him. Crime branch chief said that there are other gangsters who want to return to their native land but they are afraid of the consequences but...
