Dr. S.Pruthviraja pande  |  Added idea  "Inter-connection of rivers"  |  3 years ago
We can minimise the floods by interconnecting the rivers to some extent?
malladi madhukumar  |  Supported idea  "from Sanjeev Nargund - of constructing tanks, channels"  |  3 years ago
It is a good idea.constructions of tanks and interconnection of tanks is most advisable option.Whenever there is excess water the excess water should go to tanks  from that to another tank which also helps infilling the tanks with water which can...

Also the construction of Dams not only store extra water for next season, it could be used to generate HYDEL POWER thru turbines so that power crisis in India could be over come.

MAx flood discharge is based on past data at the time of design and therefore most of our dams and bridges may not be in tune with these types of flash floods occuring one off in a large duration. No design will take into consideration such freak...
Basab Ghosh  |  Answered  |  3 years ago
It is too simplistic to discount earlier dam designs as 'OLD' technology and tout 'NEW' technology. What is 'NEW' today, will be 'OLD' tomorrow, but a dam will be built to last over 100 years. In fact, some of the OLD technology may be the...

The Andhra Pradesh government, on Sunday, asked the villagers living on the banks of river Krishna to vacate their villages as the area is expected to face critical flood situation following the release of water in the river.  The irrigation department released 10.5 lakh cusecs of water from Nagarjunasagar at 1000 hrs on Sunday. The water is expected to reach Prakasam barriage at Vijayawada by midnight. Military Strength: Comapre India and Pakistan Manpower and Ground Forces India has the second largest manpower in its military globally - at 3,773,300 personell (2005), next only to China. Pakistan has a much smaller manpower of 1,449,000 personell which is proportionally higher than India in terms of their population ratios. In terms of numbers and equipments, both Indian and Pakistani ground forces are on an closely equal footing. Facts about "Jana Gana Mana" - Just a thought for the National Anthem! How well do you know about it?     I have always wondered who is the "adhinayak" and "bharat bhagya vidhata",    whose praise we are singing. I thought might be Motherland India! Our current National Anthem "Jana Gana Mana" is sung throughout the country.   Did you know the following about our national anthem, I didn't.   To begin with, India's national anthem, Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka, was written by Rabindranath Tagore in honour of King George V and the Queen of  England when they visited India in 1919.   To honour their visit Pandit Motilal  Nehru had the five stanzas included, which are in praise of the King and  Queen. (And most of us think it is in the praise of our great motherland!! !)   In the original Bengali verses only those provinces that were under British rule, i.e. Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, Maratha etc. were mentioned. None of  the  princely states were recognised which are integral parts of India...

India has formally cleared the biggest-ever Indo-US defence deal, the $4.1 billion contract for 10 C-17 Globemaster-III giant strategic airlift aircraft. All decks for the almost Rs 19,000-crore deal, which will support over 22,000 jobs in the US as Barack Obama himself put it, were cleared last month. On Monday, the Cabinet Committee on Security chaired by PM Manmohan Singh gave the final go-ahead for the contract, under which the 10 Globemasters are to be delivered to IAF between 2013 and 2015. The $4.1 billion deal, in fact, could well become even bigger at a later stage. "They are fantastic aircraft, which we chose after a deep study of what all was available in the world market...After the first 10 Globemasters, we will examine the option to go in for another six,'' IAF chief Air Chief Marshal P V Naik told . Capable of carrying a maximum payload of 77.5 tonnes, which can include combat vehicles, artillery guns and battle-ready troops, the Boeing-manufactured Globemasters will...

In many ways, a manager has to be a leader, so therefore a manager will have many of the traits that a leader does. However, I feel the term 'manager' applies primarily to business, it's in a manager's best interest to lead his co-workers effectively, encouraging them to achieve their goals and targets. In my experience, a leader is more of a social thing; more associated with team work, too. Go to Discussion http://lnkd.in/wUJe5E
