Here's the full text of Narendra Modi's open letter to Anna Hazare : My heartfelt feelings in an open letter to Annaji Respected Annaji, On the eighth day of fasting in the Navratri I am inspired to write to you early at 5 O'clock in the morning. When you were sitting at fast in Delhi during that period, I too was fasting on the occasion of Navratri, the period that symbolizes the embodiment of Divine Shakti. I was pleased indeed that by the grace of Maa Jagadamba I happened to be a co-traveller in your crusade albeit indirectly. Observing the Navratri fast and being busy in election campaigning, I was fortunate to have the darshan of Mother Kamakshi in Assam. Your fasting was in progress a...

Implementation of UN Convention on Corruption would have made Anna Hazare's movement unnecessary The UN Convention on Corruption was the culmination of a number of UN resolutions starting 4.12.2000. It was introduced in Dec 2004. The Government of India has signed this convention in 2005 but has not ratified it for the last six years. After the recent hue and cry about corruption in India , the government appears to have woken up and announced that it would be ratified 'soon'. Why this Convention has not been ratified by this government appears to be closely linked to what the Convention says. Those who think that Anna Hazare 'blackmailed' the Government should read this Convention....

Ramdev said that names of all foreign bank account holders should be made public and high denomination currency notes like of 500 and 1,000 be banned. His supporters in India and abroad will join him in New Delhi. He will also write a letter to the Prime Minister. Hindu-Muslim Unity May 11, 1921 That unity is strength is not merely a copybook maxim but a rule of life is in no case so clearly illustrated as in the problem of Hindu-Muslim unity. Divided we must fall. Any third power may easily enslave India so long as we Hindus and Mussulmans are ready to cut each others' throats. Hindu-Muslim unity means not unity only between Hindus and Mussulmans, but between all those who believe India to be their home, no matter to what faith they belong. I am fully aware that we have not yet attained that unity to such an extent as to bear any strain. It is a da...

Recovery of its due has been a hectic exercise for the Banks in the absence of a special legislation. ‘Non-performing Assets’ were growing and a need was felt to reduce the ‘Non-performing Assets’ of the Banks drastically. As the recovery through Courts was a difficult exercise for the Banks, initially, a special legislation called ‘The Recovery of Debts due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 1993’ was enacted creating a Special Tribunal called ‘Debt Recovery Tribunal’. Under the Act, the Banks are entitled to approach the Tribunal by filing an ‘Original Application’ which is similar to filing a suit in Civil Court proceedings. However, unlike the ‘Civil Court’ which is supposed to follow the ‘Civil Procedure Code’, a special and simple procedure has been prescribed under ‘The Recovery of Debts due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 1993’. At the end of adjudication, the Tribunal is supposed to grant a certificate called ‘Recovery Certificate’ infavour of the Bank...

Anna Hazare Ends Latest Fast The United Progressive Alliance government heaved a huge sigh of relief Sunday as Anna Hazare ended his 288-hour-long fast . Still, this may just be a lull before the next Hazare storm gathers. The 74-year-old anti-corruption crusader announced his roadmap for the near future, saying: ‘I have only suspended my agitation. I will not rest until all the changes that I look to are achieved.’ After ending his fast, which seemed most of the past week to be broadcast live virtually 24/7 by all TV channels, Hazare also made it clear that his struggle to rid the Indian system of corruption would continue. The Gandhian leader, who has become a cult figure in India , immediately announced his next target: sweeping reforms to the election and education systems, and a campaign to improve the livelihoods of millions of farmers and labourers. He also gave a sneak preview of his ideas on electoral reform, saying his next campaign would be based around the idea of the...

I found this while I was checking a friends blog and accidently bumped in to this.. Molestation is an ugly word. But still everyone needs to know what it is. Touching and exploiting someone sexually is molestation. A child should always be explained what is the difference between good and bad touch. Along with this if a child complains about a bad touch it should be taken seriously and a steps should be taken against this. Today I am saying this because I was a victim. A victim of child abuse, a victim of adolescent molestation and it continues. But I can proudly say that I had all the strength to fight this as an adolescent. When I was a child I went to see a doctor , a skin specialist for something which had happened on my face. I realised that the behaviour of the doctor was weird and I was at first scared. Then I told my parents and they made me feel it was ok and they just did not complain about this anywhere. The only solution they came to was : not to take me to that...
