About "How to survive workplace in Recession and get a Salary Hike" topic:

As recession is still on and the world is expecting a turnaround by the end of this year, what do IT professionals like us do to get ahead in career and also to get ourselves rewarded for hardwork we put in everyday.

First and foremost the HR and the Program Managers should work in tandem and each employee should have a HR discussion every quarter based on his performance and come up with brainstorming for  enhancing / leveraging their performance and take it to next level .   Performance is not only aided by  but my motivation from Peers, Managers who directly or indirectly control an employee.

We find that lacking  and today's managers are worried about raising their purses or fattening their purse than looking into problems that affect their subordinates.

Companies need to think how to motivate the smart workers and bright workers and also to give direction to employees who are in depression due to non availability of Projects / Lay offs.

Motivation and Rewards , be it in kind or  any outing or a  appreciatory email would go long way in enhancing employee perception and performance.

IT employees need to rethink on how to satisfy their bosses not by  being a slave but by being able to prove that they are reliable and trustworthy.

With all the above, I am sure that IT executives and employees can beat recession blues and emerge stronger and ultimately ask for a payraise.

Each one has his /her own domain of speciality. Taking care of the family is a speciality where men can not match women. Hence women need to stay at home , not because they can not work ( in fact they work better), but because they have better...

Don't know where to tag, but it all depends upon individual choice..!! 1) If you choose to work because you are competent enough, you should do.. 2) If working of women at home is a necessity, she should do.. 3) If working doesn't hamper's her...

Hyderabad June 7:  Bulls may be loading up stocks and nudging up the Sensex in anticipation of fresh economic reforms by the UPA Government, but recessionary fears continue to cast a gloom in the job market, especially for the fresh MBA pass-outs this year. Despite some recent positive signals in the recession-hit economies, fresh MBA graduates still have to deal with constricted campus placements and lower availability of jobs. A survey by the Hyderabad chapter of the Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad) Alumni Association has shown that so far hardly 20 to 30 per cent of the pass-outs from the 90-odd MBA colleges in Hyderabad this year have been able to land jobs. “It is a more or less similar story elsewhere in the country. Campus placements have dwindled beyond expectation,” the alumni association says. Collecting data from the 90-odd MBA colleges in Hyderabad, the association points out that 20 to 30 per cent of the 10,000 graduates who passed out this year have been...

Office Etiquette or Office Manners is about conducting yourself   respectfully and courteously   in the office or workplace I have noticed that as we go from college to the real corporate world it is hard to get used to a different environment. This is for freshers because other would be knowing the thumb rules already.   Always act with honesty and   dignity Chewing   gum   and popping bubble gum in the presence of co-workers is neither cool nor dignified Never   do it whilst attending customers Wear appropriate office   attire,   for example correct footwear, not thongs (flip flops) - they are strictly casual or beachwear No exposed midriff to   display   tattoos and body piercing. Be neat, clean and as   conservative   as the business requires you to be We are put off by   smelly people.   So, be sure to shower regularly and use a suitable deodorant Do not   cough or sneeze   in anyone's direction. Use a tissue, if possible, to contain the germs and then say "Excuse me" The  ...

Hi All, Came across a nice artical, thought beneficial for all HR professionals : What else does it take to K.E.E.P your employees satisfied? "People work for much more than a paycheck." Most employees are looking for common elements from the people they work for . People, regardless of position, seek a good " Relationship with their manager ", " A positive work environment ", and " Praise and recognition ". Successfully combine these three elements and implement them effectively and you have created the foundation for a great retention strategy. It is obvious that these crucial elements have little or nothing to do with compensation. Instead they remind us an important fact: People work for much more than a paycheck. People not only want their jobs to be a source of income but a source of attaining pride, professional development, enjoyment, and acknowledgment of their skills and efforts as well. With this in mind, I would like to introduce to you a retention-boosting method,...
