About "Imposive development Vs Development on consent" topic:

In the name of development, government and administration are just imposing their ideas on rural and tribal communities who are living peacefully within their own domain. On the perception that the tribals and rural communities are less civilised and backward we are forcing them to get dispersed from their self sustained community and opt to be industrial labour communities. So, the developmnt becomes a curse to them and they start opposing it. Instead, the planners can seek their opinion on what development they need and how they want to live.

Tribal communities, more specifically the tribal women, have been the worst victim of the imposing development policies that have led to a clear conflict over natural resources, said a resource person from Church of North India Synodical Board of Social Services (CNISBSS) during a workshop on empowering tribal women organised by COT-NCCI and SPARK at CYSD building in Bhubaneswar. Be it the conflict between the tribals and corporate forces over Niyamgiri hill range of Kalahandi, Forests of Kashipur and Land rights in Kalinga Nagar, or the conflict between tribal and non-tribal communities in Kandhamal and Koraput’s Narayanpatna, the reason is non other than issues related to the right over n...

Yes, in the process of "modernising" the tribals, we are indirectly destroying their culture and civilisation. They should be given permission to live in their own way and [protect their culture. Not only that even government should help them in...

10 things about good bosses   Do you like your boss? Let's be honest, a majority of employees will definitely come with a negative answer to this question. Yes, bosses are not always there to be liked. But is there any fun being a boss who is not respected or ineffective at managing staff? Of course not, so let's have a look at what it takes to be a good boss. Below are 10 things that bosses can do to guarantee that their subordinates and co-workers will respect them. 1. Praise the staff in public, correct them in private   Good bosses know it very well that praising and encouraging the staff is the key to have a positive atmosphere within the office and it helps to bring the best in them. If someone does something well, a good boss should recognize them for their efforts. People need to know when they are doing well and that they are appreciated. However, if someone is not doing so well, speak to them privately, instead of calling them out in front of a group. 2. Pay people what...

Let me share a few issues for TS members. Demarcation of the boundary was initially made with limited accuracy (reasons beyond scope here). At places it did not follow geographical features. The line stopped at a point known as NJ 9842 on the map – with no demarcation beyond. It is due to the strategic importance of the Saltoro Ridge that Pakistani troops began creeping up we were left with no option but to quickly occupy our territory. That was 1984. Today we occupy advantageous strategic positions. There is far more to our northern frontiers than Siachen Glacier. We do have a significant presence of troops in various other parts of the north. The Siachen glacier is only a fraction. Heights are dizzying, temperatures are sub sub zero (can only be felt, not imagined), silence is total (actually screams at you), and the loneliness is so profound that only the numbers of troops going hysterical, or otherwise suffering, can explain. Even walking with such low oxygen levels is...
