Your thinking can make hell out of heaven and heaven out of hell. Take the example of the great Napoleon Bonaparte and Helen Keller. Napoleon had everything in his life: Money, power, status and recognition. But do you know what he has to say at end of his life? He said he could never see Six days of happiness in his whole life. In stark contrast to him is Helen Keller, the women who was deaf, dumb and blind. Author of many books, she had all together a different view of life. In spite of handicaps, she asserted that life was so beautiful! http://groups.google.co.in/group/treat-for-tat?hl=en

In today's turbulent, often chaotic, environment, commercial success depends on employees using their full talents. Yet in spite of the myriad of available theories and practices, managers often view motivation as something of a mystery. In part this is because individuals are motivated by different things and in different ways. In addition, these are times when delayering and the flattening of hierarchies can create insecurity and lower staff morale. Moreover, more staff than ever before are working part time or on limited-term contracts, and these employees are often especially hard to motivate. Definition of Employee Motivation Twyla Dell writes of motivating employees, The heart of moti...

We are hired for our ability to use our intellectual resources - to find solutions, suggest the road ahead, develop plans, chart courses of action etc etc. The boss is looking for relevant, practical acceptable plans which are both effective efficient. To a human being, ‘thinking’ is hard work. Given a choice the ‘head’ is a procrastinator. It will look for the simplest way out. Employees come in various shades – from those who don’t want to, or cannot think, or lack the ability to innovate and think fresh, to those who seem to do wonders every time. So what happens – confronted with an issue, the former is most likely to look for precedence, dig old files presentations, google for templates, activate his / her networks etc till he has a start point. Thereafter it is the familiar story of Controls C V. The first time this gets the approval of the boss, we are comfortably on the road downhill.      Some of our subordinates fresh out of college have the ability to start with, but...

Rahul Dravid announced his retirement and suddenly we find a new member in the team. Some people think he should have retired earlier while other say he should have continued playing. But all in all I find his decision of making space for someone new right. We need the 'new' generation to come u and replace old before it is too late. This is not only applicable to the game but everywhere. Yes specially politics. During the recent elections when the elephant was run over by the cycle we all knew its going to be one of them. It rarely makes  any difference who it is.  In cricket the selector don't want to let go the experienced and in politics the inexperienced do not want to jump in. How often do we find a new bee out of an unknown background coming up for a change. If we ask our-self would we be up to participate in the dirty job? I presume that perhaps the answer is 'NO' My question is how can we convince, teach and encourage the new generation to participate in the process of...
